I got talking to a work colleague of Ockys who was at Norden yesterday. He lived local and came to see him play. He has apparently already been contacted by 7 clubs with regards to next season. One of them being Nelson. Like i originally said..he will not be short of offers.

Yesterday a example off why they are getting rid chewing up 73 balls for his 56 when chasing a big score?

A bit harsh, he has scored more runs than any other first division pro.

With a team as strong as Lowerhouse he plays the perfect role. The amateurs probably haven't performed as well as they would like.

As a House fan i agree. He is very difficult to get out cheaply and he stays around a while but he doesn't flourish the bat as often as he should. His average is excellent but i would bet his strike rate isn't as impressive. I knew the script before we started our innings. We were given a flying start too by being given 15 extras in the first over. A fantastic opening partnership but you sensed we were never scoring quick enough. Too much tippy tappy. Ocky hit a couple of sixes but at that point the game was up. A bit baffling. To be fair they all seem to have the disease. Never seems any urgency when the rate is creeping up..until it is too late. We need someone who can deliver a punch mid innings.

I sensed there was more to the answer i got when i was told it was "mostly" due to familiarity and a change wanted.

There's a date Lenny, where clubs can start talking to other clubs pro's if they haven't been signed up for the following year yet.

Equally a pro could of decided he doesn't want to return already.

As for Lowerhouse possibly having someone lined up already. They don't I am led to believe.

Possibly. They have gone from being the whipping boys to being the whippers. Would it do them any good to be being the whipping boys again next season as they quite possibly could be? They need a bit of sustained success..to get used to winning. Tricky situation but i would guess they would love a shot at the top league.

I don't know we were beaten pretty convincingly by Rochdale in the cup a few weeks back! You never know promotion may attract 1 or 2 new players who'll strengthen us. I'm sure Gary Hunt and the lads are doing all they can to get Pricey to stay but if someone comes in and offers him a lot more money then you can't really blame the lad for going.

I understand Lowerhouse were 19-0 after 1 over yesterday, but only 149-4 after 40 overs ... that's adding only 130 runs in 39 overs, but I notice Haasbroek wasn't in the side, which makes a difference with bat and ball ...

July 21st, according to the 2018 League Handbook (it may have changed, but I don't think so) is the date when you can approach other clubs' professionals. Though if his own club has offered him a deal by that time, then there is a transfer tribunal fee to be paid. But I have no idea what sort of figure they are talking about - not a lot, I shouldn't think.

I'm not sure if Colne would love a shot at the top league - but we would certainly like to win this one! It's not often that we get the chance for medals and cups. I've got no doubt that the regular winning has put a lot of confidence into the side.

We missed him as a bowling option for sure and he would have added a bit more depth to the batting but i don't think he would have made that much difference. Like i said it seems to be a team problem..it's not just Ocky. When we played Darwen at home in the T20 we hit one boundary. One. Granted i think there were 5 sixes but that is poor in a T20. We have excellent cricketers but not many who are explosive and big hitting on a regular basis. I dread us chasing as we need to get the other team out cheaply to stand a chance these days....which we often do.

It's hard work getting sub pro's for Saturday games when the Lancs league play on them.

All leagues around here play Saturday.

You need good contacts or a lot of money.

He's already joined up with the squad for the Ireland Test Match this week.

Burnley haven't managed to get a sub pro yet for Saturdays game.
3 or 4 clubs in the Ribb league haven't got one either.

Will one of the Browns or Jonny Clare fill in?

This is now the hardest time to get a player. The Blast is in full flow so players are harder to come by. Saturday's a nightmare because of all leagues playing.

I think Brown has played as an amateur this season. So if he plays as a pro that stops him playing as an amateur again or it could be argued he isn't a bonafide pro....if they can't get one then maybe best just to take the £300 fine and keep David available if needed.
