Fishing

Post by Rodneyyouplonker » Sun Jul 21, 2019 2:46 pm

We got any keen anglers on here? Not been for over a year, going to cast a few lines next week sometime. Wondering where’s fishing well and best tactics, I like surface fishing with dog biscuits when it’s nice and sunny but just been and bought a quiver tip to do some ledgering.

Cricketfield makes him look a very poor Angler IMO.

Very keen fisherman, nowadays always for carp. Used to love fishing the method feeder, go well with your quiver tip.

I used to fish when younger, but got all my gear stolen and never started again.

Where do you fish Holty. I usually just stick to commercials, wouldn’t know where to start on a big water

You might want to think about joining Pendle, Burnley and district AA. I was a bailiff and on the committee till earlier this year.

You have three carp waters to go to. Rowley , Walverden and Foulridge.

Lowerhouse lodge has over 1000 carp, I have known 300 being caught in a weekend this time of year. It has Bream, Tench , roach and pike. If you cannot catch on Lowerhouse, you need to give up.

Rowley is mainly carp with about 20 20lb carp and one over 30lb. This is the clubs hardest water but last weekend about 12 carp were caught.

Walverden has a lot of carp but there have been reports of Eastern European’s netting it this year.

Foulridge, my favourite has carp to 28lb , large head of Bream, roach and perch and Pike.

Plus three River stretches , full of trout and Grayling, barbel and chub.

All for £40 a year. Plus £10 if you want to fish overnight.

Each water has its own Facebook page.

If you want to try any water first you can rock up and fish, a bailiff will appear as if by magic and charge you a fiver for the day.

Any more info just ask on here.

That sounds a great ticket, many of those waters I fished as a teen. Over 20 years now living near Oxford, so I fish Linear, linch hill and next month todber. As a change I often do day sessions on smaller waters, like a local nt lake at Buscot park. Fiver in a box and a busy day on the float or method feeder or ledge ring on the Thames for perch.

I’d advise to get the above ticket and try different venues, you’ll soon get a favourite that’ll keep drawing you back!

Tight lines pal

I'm losing my touch though, only got 12 the other day, and no biggies at all.

Need to polish up my act if I'm going Fish O Mania this year

Too late fella, the final was last week. I did fish a few qualifiers but having seen the organiser back-handing a peg number to one of the Ringers I've not been back.

Coarse go to : Big Carps Snowman on the hair rig, can't go wrong with sweetcorn on the hair either..

Quite like the method feeder for Bream.

Sea fishing love using the feathers for Mackerel/Pollock... On the hunt for an elusive Tope from the shore... Me and my mates fish the Lyn peninsula in North Wales
