Loving it.

The lefties are in absolute meltdown on twitter, its literally like the EU referendum all over again.

As someone who wants the Tories to lose the next election I'm loving how right-wing this government is too.

I think it’s because the brextremists don’t want to give it a chance. Othing but the purest fullest separation will be good enough for them. It’s like Pol Pot taking it to Year Zero. Break Britain completely down and rebuild it in they way they always wished it could be. A small government, low tax, low regulation “paradise”.

oh contraire my little Phylum Chordata.

Mays government was probably the wettest in living memory, she inspired 0 confidence and fought the worst general election campaign I have ever seen, yet she still managed to beat Corbyn. Boris is not May, people on my side actually LIKE him, and normies who barely know anything about politics but vote anyway recognise and like him too because "hur dur the funny guy who is always doing crazy stuff"

He is exactly what the Tories need, and i firmly believe that if he runs a GE, the tories will tear Labour apart.

It's a bit of a weird one. In theory we couldn't walk away from the backstop as we'd be breaking an international treaty and that would obviously be a bad thing. However, introducing a hard border in Ireland would also be breaking an international treaty. It's a bit of a rock and hard place.

Really? Based on what exactly?

In addition, you must agree that all this talk of uniting the nation is utter rubbish as Boris Johnson is absolutely despised in Scotland.

Boris wins means it's end of the United Kingdom.

It's all just a means by which people can be convinced to vote against their own interests. As long as you can get them afraid, or angry, or hateful of other people more than they're concerned by their own lot in life, then they'll vote *against* their neighbour rather than *for* themselves.

Oh he won't unite the nation, he will further isolate the left and Scotland will continue to throw its toys out of the pram I'm sure.

It won't matter though, because the only party that can stop them is Labour and that will never happen with Corbyn in charge and the SNP dominating Scotland.

When you say "isolate the left" i assume you mean isolate them by making them a majority of the public.

The sky poll shows that 42% of people feel more pessimistic under Boris, and 51% think he isnt a serious politician. Yet still twice as many people think he will make a better PM than Corbyn. If that doesn't frighten Labour into ditching him, nothing will.
If Boris does badly, as he well could with the enemies hes made on the bank benches, we could be in for one hung parliament after another for decades.

There is no rule that says every import and export should be physically checked; there is no rule that says there must be random checks of imports and exports.
If there are no customs checks whatsoever you're basically saying there are no tariffs on imports from the EU, which means any WTO nation would be able to make a complaint on the grounds that they're being discriminated against.

And if there are even minor customs checks and infrastructure on the border the EU are unlikely to give us a trade deal.

Politics works in cycles over time, we have right wing governments, then left, then centrist.

So anyone who’s massively excited/depressed by this, just remember it will all change in a few years. So stop calling each other names.

Surprised by the Sajid appointment in that he was not at all complimentary about Boris on the campaign trail. At least he has a background that does qualify him for the Chancellor job. Not a fan of jobs for the boys and appointing someone who is not qualified for the job. Eg the boss of a pharmaceutical company becoming a boss of an engineering firm knowing nothing about that industry.

Just when you think it couldn't get any worse with the election of Boris Johnson as Prime Minister by 100,000 or so Tories. The bumbling idiot appoints Pritti Patel and Dominic Raab to top jobs in the Cabinet! Democracy is being treated with disdain. The countries in a very precarious position - the only saving grace is that Johnson will cock it up big style sooner rather than later. We know about most of his previous gaffes, lies and indiscretions but there's plenty that haven't come to light yet - with more to come.

Why would lefties be crying?

This is the best thing that could ever happen to the Conservative Party.

My enjoyment comes from the ridiculous, misplaced optimism the right-wingers are enjoying today.

Boris Johnson will deliver the OPPOSITE of everything he's promising, he will split the country, Brexit will get cancelled and a general election will see him laughed out of office and the destruction of the Conservative Party.

The shortest, most-useless, most-ridiculous and derided government in the history of the UK started today.
