Post Boxing Day we were in the top 6 form table and with Nick Pope in goals we finished 7th. Why this frantic desire on the part of some posters to tear up the first xl and start again!

Not sure anyone wants to tear it up but just strengthen midfield with one decent player. We maybe a a Lancashire town club and need to run it prudently but we are a Premier League club with a high income streams.

What sort of transfer fee do you think we should be paying for the type of midfielder you want and what wages could we afford?

15-20 million/40-50k wages.

I don't think this is unrealistic with what we have spent so far. I don't think we'd be too far away from Victor Wanyama at that number.

Isn't he more of a defensive midfielder?
Hendrick can do that, I thought we were looking for someone a bit more creative.
Still can't see 20m and 50k per week replacing the quality of Defour unless we get lucky with a player from abroad, or someone with the ability to step up from a lower league without having to spend 12 months learning the Dyche way of playing.

I wouldn't necessarily say we need someone creative. Don't think Dyche would find room for someone like that in a midfield 2 anyway. For me we need a bit of power and athletism in there, at times Cork and Westwood can look like little boys. Wanyama would be that kind of player, or someone like Doucoure at Watford.

We need a strong presence like a Barton who can also manage a game alongside a Patrick Vieira strongman type who can carry the ball . Funnily enough we could probs afford Vieira now !

Perhaps give Jeff a run in that position.
