Brierfield roadworks

Post by tybfc » Mon Jul 22, 2019 8:29 am

After a bit of local knowledge help.

I need to take one of the kids to Burnley hospital today and we have been coming off the M65 at junction 12 and coming back along Colne Road through Brierfield. However last time there were three way temporary traffic lights and we queued for ages to get through them.

Are they still there?

They are still there. If you’re not travelling at rush hour then it’s usually only a couple of minutes wait. (We drive to/from work that way every day).

If you’re at rush hour, then it’s usually still the quicker way unless you use the barden lane route after the bypass.

Yes indeed. Got caught there yesterday. You'd probably be better approaching from the opposite direction and up Colne Road, or come over the Padiham by-pass and up barden Lane/Casterton Avenue. Very frustrating those lights!

As others said, they are still there and will be until at least end of August (maybe even September) - so worth remembering when the season starts.

Which way are you coming on the M65?
If going west, could come off at J11 (Crow Wood/ASDA) and go that way (or even double back from J12 if coming east)

Set off ten minutes earlier and you will be fine. The lights have a fast turn around time.

I would personally go for the bypass/Barden Lane/Windermere Avenue option.

Like mentioned above - the bypass or you could come off at junction 12 then head towards Nelson and turn right into Lomeshaye Rd at the lights, then turn right at the top into Hibson Rd. Mind you, it will probably be quicker going through the roadworks.

Possibly a bit late Tony but you could try up through Hapton & turn right after the Crem, up and over Rossy/New rd and left along Tod rd and through the lights.
