Thirsk Races
Thirsk Races
I noticed all the tips people were putting on here about Cartmel races recently, well I'm going to Thirsk on Friday and would appreciate any "insider info".
I know as much about horse racing as Paul Merson does about football!

Local trainer David Barron is always worth a bet.
Re: Thirsk Races
My Satnav calls it Thrisk much to my brothers amusement when we go up to my Stepsons place at Gisborough....
My Brother used to work with a lad who loved the Horses and had a bet most days...
He had asked at the morning Brew where "Thrisk" was...

Re: Thirsk Races
I've been to Thirsk and Doncaster races and on both occasions I just Googled betting advice/tips sites/forums and saw what horses were being tipped for the races on those days - noted which horses were tipped repeatedly on several sites - made a note and placed the bets. We stuck with smallish bets but definitely made a profit overall. Something to consider.Targetman wrote:I noticed all the tips people were putting on here about Cartmel races recently, well I'm going to Thirsk on Friday and would appreciate any "insider info".

Re: Thirsk Races
In sprint races ie 5 and 6 furlongs, back horses drawn on the stands rail. To have the highest draw is a massive advantage. The quality of horses running at Thirsk are rarely good enough to defeat the draw bias.
The only exception is in a field of 16 or more on soft going when horses drawn low can sometimes get to the far rail.

Re: Thirsk Races
The high draw over 5 and 6 furlongs used to be a forecast and tricast gold mine for punters, these days though the draw is not as strong as it was. On fast ground I would favour a mid to high draw but wouldnt be shocked if low won. I will post a tip or two on the day.

My advice above remains. Sure, you'll no doubt get some good tips on here, but looking on sites specifically there to offer betting tips surely makes more sense? Anyway, your choice and good luck. Let us know how many wins you get.Targetman wrote:Bump!

in my younger days used every tipster going. NONE stood the test of time. Best bet is to lay horses that are well tipped up.
in the 210 GALADRIEL was one of the eye catchers of the season on debut but pedigree not screaming 7 furlongs will suit. Would look to play each way on IMPERIAL GLORIANA.
3 20 the fav here TAILS I WIN looks opposable. Trip looks sharp enough and sire poor. Dont like the sire of THE BIG HOUSE so maybe the well drawn PARION with the excellent 3lb claimer Sean Davis worth a punt.
4 30 I think the fav MONDAIN is a worthy fav and should take the beating.

Take a look at Coastal Mist and Fumbo Jumbo. They might be worth considering placing small each way bets. Good luck and enjoy the day.

Re: Thirsk Races
I did look on various sites for tips, however these "experts" did me no good at all. No winners between them.FactualFrank wrote:My advice above remains. Anyway I noted a couple of tips from this thread and they both came up trumps. So many thanks to 'claretnproud' for Mondain. Odds on favourite but I risked a tidy sum(for me anyway) and had a nice win.
And also 'Carnsmerry12' for Fumbo Jumbo. Thankyou - that was my 2nd winner!
Thanks to everyone on here who took the time to reply. Cheers!

Good to know you had a couple of winners targetman. Fumbo Jumbo came in at a nice price and the tip was clearly not mumbo jumbo!
