golf driver

Post by claretnproud » Wed Jul 24, 2019 6:24 pm

playing with a ping g25 and pretty consistent without being long. Willing to try a new driver or 2 that may give me a few extra yards, albeit maybe lose a bit of consistency until new driver has settled in. I like to go to clitheroe gc and try my clubs before buying. Any suggestions on make/model/shaft etc. I dont have a particularly fast swing if that makes a big difference. thanks in advance.

IF you want more distance you need more clubhead speed, although the right club can help, slow swing always go for regular and not stiff shaft.
Im sure my old golfing bud Paul Mc will help you out at Clitheroe.

It's all about the shaft. Go and try a few clubs and shafts with a pro to find the one that suits your swing.

Just do what you usually do and whack it into the trees so it gets a kick off one and fires it further up the fairway!!

There was a vid on YouTube where two golf pro’s hit drivers manufactured in the 80’s and a up to date, most technologically advanced drivers. The difference, with 30 years technical advancement = less than 1 yard! Like others have said, it’s about technique and having the correct shaft fitted to suit your swing speed. I have a borderline slow-med swing speed and I changed down to a softer shaft, the difference was amazing (over 10-20 yards and more accuracy).

good point that pycb. could do with one that can go into the trees and emerge at the other side nicely on the fairway just like my playing partners seem to do ;)

Driven me a couple of Golfs... the R was the best.

Don't think I'd get another one though.

I have an immaculate condition Ping G for sale. Regular lite shaft but have now gone onto seniors' shafts throughout. It's an age thing!

They're usually all young silly d1cks, with a noisy exhaust ,zooming up and down the roads over the speed limit.

* I'm aware not ALL will be like that, but a very high percentage are.
