Re: Lafferty
Very strange decision by Rangers last summer to take him back. The fans hated him first time round, referring to him as Laugherty, so that was never going to work. Just one productive season since leaving Sion and that was 2017/18 at Hearts.randomclaret2 wrote:Judging by some of the moves Lafferty has managed to make in his career he must have a good agent

Wasnt it announced last week or the week before that he had signed for a club in Thailand?

No, he's moving to Baker St... To try and make it as a sax player.

Selling him for what we did was one of the best bits of business we have ever done.
Had okay potential but never really progressed, quite probably due to his character.

A remember him as a ball boy in the days when youth team players were used
Kyle always looked a decent youth player.Overall hes not had too bad a career always seems to get decent clubs.

His loss ultimately proved to be our gain as we brought Paterson and Eagles in,and the rest is history.
Looking at his goal scoring or lack of,how on earth did we get nearly £4m a decade ago wow!
He averaged a goal every 9 games and that was in the Championship.

Re: Lafferty
After that outburst, Brendan Flood ordered the club to put out a statement saying that Lafferty had no issues with the club but had a problem with the fans. Made Flood look even dafter than Lafferty.tiger76 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 26, 2019 7:41 pmQuick Google search threw up this article, talk about throwing your toys out of the pram.

Re: Lafferty
A real troublemaker was Lafferty, when he wasn't hanging around in KFC. Bewildering how we got so much money for such a bang average player. And I think bang average is the biggest compliment I can pay him looking at his subsequent career.

If a three egg omelette sorted out Joey Barton, you'd need Venky's annual production to sort this character !!tiger76 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 25, 2020 4:04 pmKyle's turned up in Serie B with Reggina https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/53529058

Re: Lafferty
Reggina will be his 12th club, you do have to wonder whether he regrets some of those moves, but knowing Kyle probably not, he always promised more than he delivered, and that's why he's now a journeyman. We did well getting rid of him when we did, and the £3m looks good money given how his career has panned out since.Clarets4me wrote: ↑Sat Jul 25, 2020 5:28 pmIf a three egg omelette sorted out Joey Barton, you'd need Venky's annual production to sort this character !!

I'll give it until mid October before the Reggina faithful are asking, " Perche abbiamo comprata questa testa di cazzo ? He’s a clown, spoke to a few lads from different clubs that played with him, terrible professional even at international level. Re: Lafferty
Wikipedia on his time at Palermo:
Sums him up pretty well.He scored 11 goals in 34 matches to help the club ascend to Serie A as champions in his only season, and won the Fans Player of the Season award. However, club president Maurizio Zamparini called him an "out-of-control womaniser" and claimed that this lifestyle resulted in him being sold.
Re: Lafferty
He hasn’t done too bad tbh. Being payed to play in Italy, Turkey, Switzerland. Playing for Rangers. Not the best of careers but when you take it back to barebones that’s nothing to grumble at. Especially when he wasn’t ever that good.

Very overrated and some of the best business we ever did was flogging him at a ridiculous price. A Northern Ireland mate of mine used to call him Bamby on ice. Preston must be getting desperate if they think he is the answer.

Re: Lafferty
I read this morning that he was expected to sign for Kilmarnock having had his contract cancelled at his most recent club.
He always said he would play in our Premier League and to be fair he did, he got 13 minutes as a substitute in one game for Norwich in 2015/16 season.

Never forget when he was at Rangers and a player made a movement of his head towards him on the touchline, he went down like ton of bricks clutching his face. Laughable, he got the guy sent off, later the card was recinded

We certainly did well getting £3.5m for him, can't work out whether this, or the £1.2m we got for Wayne Thomas was the biggest robbery we ever committed.Cirrus_Minor wrote: ↑Fri Feb 12, 2021 4:46 pmVery overrated and some of the best business we ever did was flogging him at a ridiculous price. Re: Lafferty
100% agree
At least with Lafferty there was decent potential there. For Thomas it must've been more a case of trying not to smile when speaking with Southampton about the "negotiations"...
After 24 games with us, Thomas was averaging a red card every 6 games if I remember correctly. Must be some kind of record.
