Can't do anything other than wish him the very best after today's decision.

I'll always recall the horrible abuse he took from Burnley fans at Port Vale four years ago - and some very strong words from him today

Disappointing to read that racism has affected his mental health, a bit early to hang up the boots but good luck to him.

Looking after your own health should always trump your career, no matter how lucrative the money might be.

Good on him also for speaking up as well. With racism on the rise again in football (as per recent Kick It Out report) it is clear yet more still needs to be done about the culture surrounding our game.

Sad to retire at 28 years old, however, he obviously has lots of reasons why he has made the decision and I wish him well in whatever he does now.

It is THE most important thing and he's been suffering for quite some time

I was there when he scored v Spurs in the Cup
A great strike but it was as good as it got in his time at Burnley
I hope Marvin has a great career in his chosen occupation.

Hope he can recover and live a life which makes him happy. I am sure he will stay in football as from all I read about him shows him to be an intelligent articulate young man. With issues like racism and homophobia in the game people like Marvin can only help the game move forward rather than the bigwigs blinkered views that laces can fix an issue or fining a team 10k for racism.

I also do feel for these footballers that never live up to their hype. Sometimes they are just not good enough and never will be. Because a manager deems them to be worth so much the fans then believe the player should repay that fee. I know they are well paid but if I was doing a job and knew I want good enough I am sure it would have a detrimental effect on my mental health too. Regardless of pay, if you are told by 1000's of fans every week that you werent good enough but worded much nastier and couple that with racist abuse it is going to effect you.

It's got absolutely nothing to do with whether he was good enough or not.

Good luck in the future to the young man.
Not Burnley’s greatest signing, but far, far from the worst.
