Here here, and it is truly a good subject for a heated drunken debate from time to timehouseboy wrote:Absolutely. It's all down to personal choice as you say. I actually liked punk as well because it did change things but it was created by Malcolm McLaren so it wasn't quite the rebellious movement that it first appeared to be but it was still good for all that. Incidentally I love John Lydon as a character - a true eccentric. He denounced all things prog when with the Pistols but has since gone on record as saying he actually loves Van der Graf Generator and Peter Hammill and has also admitted that one of his targets at the time, Pink Floyd, are 'really quite good'.
Music, like art in general, is totally subjective and therefore it is difficult to criticise any form of it really, it's a bit like saying toast is better than steak when really it's all down to taste.

Re taxi fare: current price from Oakwood Clock to Burnley centre is £85. Verbal quote from Yeadon-based private hire company (Daughter works there as dispatcher). Oakwood is at the bottom end of Roundhay Park.

Well, what can I say.
Whatever people say about him, he certainly knows how to write a number 1, and play that guitar.
The weather was horrific, but was a good night.
The Darkness were very good too.
Anyone going today will have a good day

If you dont take a bag, take your own beer etc in pockets as if no bags you're ushered through with no frisk etc.Colburn_Claret wrote:My daughters going tonight, she's taking her wellies just in case. Any other recommendations.
It was rammed, and queueing/ showing etiquette isnt appreciated at all, it's a dog fight for toilets, booze and food

When is the Blues fest on?jrgbfc wrote:If Ed Sheeran was on in my back yard I'd close the curtains
Joking aside get yourself up the Blues fest in Colne. Always a great weekend, especially if the weather's decent, lots of great local bands on and a great atmosphere.

Jem Godfrey (keys) is the lead of the band and is an absolute wizard, John Mitchell (from It Bites, Arena, Kino) on guitar, Nathan King on bass and the amazing Craig Blundell on drums.
Well worth listening to.

Re: Ed Sheeran Leeds Friday 16th August
I'll have to catch a listen to them. Incidentally when was John Mitchell with it bites? I always remember their guitarist being Frank Dunnery, who went on to do some work in the studio with Yes. Strangely we were down to do some gigs with It Bites but for whatever reason (I can't remember why) it never happened. They were from Whitehaven in Cumbria, the same place as 3 of the guys in our band, our keyboard player (now alas no longer with us) knew their keyman (the guy who had the long dreadlocks).icu81b4 wrote:https://youtu.be/peoj5mTwqjk

John took over from Francis quite some time ago, (he happened to be a fan) and just as talented. I think Mr Dunnery is due in Manchester soon with a 'once around the world' gighouseboy wrote:I'll have to catch a listen to them. Incidentally when was John Mitchell with it bites? I've seen FD a few times, once was a 'house' gig at a small hotel, his music is good, not so sure about his astrology beliefs tho'
Shame you didn't get to do the gigs.
