Perhaps if SD looked at this message board he would realise we need a midfielder.

Certainly not.
The search should span at least 3 or 4 windows and be the subject of several thousand posts on CM.

It is only a friendly and am sure SD will be aware of what we need
However if the above posters sound concerned about a new centre mid based on a friendly against Wigan, I would think several new defenders would be neededafter conceding 2 against Wigan

Re: Burnley v Wigan
Only a friendly so not overly bothered about the scoreline........however, just a few observations........
Lennon is NOT a left winger. Why Dyche persists with this is incredible and is like playing with 10 men.
Midfield is in DESPERATE need of strengthening.
McNeil scored a beauty....but could have scored 4 with a bit more composure.
JBG lazy for the first Wigan goal and Cork weak and slow to react for the second.

Re: Burnley v Wigan
CM looked very weak, and no real creativity. Even the lad who came off the bench got caught a couple of times leading to chances to the opposition. I'd be amazed if SD doesn't feel we are lacking in that department.
Only a friendly but once again Cork looks like he did for large parts of last season.

I think we all know the CM situation is poor and with Defour presumably off/injured/eating twix etc I’m sure we’ll bring something decent in tbh. Bit shocked at Lennon on the left today , such a quality player but not there . We weren’t that bad in all honesty ,though need to up it as we won’t be playing relegation champ fodder every week.

Just an educated guess but I would say it's now looking unlikely that we sign this midfielder we all know we need, in order to figure next season we're all aware that any potential new signing obviously needs a dyche pre season, may sound negative, nevertheless has in past seasons proved to be true, although I so hope I'm wrong.

I too think we’re going to come up short in the recruitment of the midfielder(s) we need to stay competitive this term. I hope I’m proved wrong, but I suspect I won’t be. The Club will most likely be relying on Dyche pulling another rabbit out of the hat to keep us up again.alwaysaclaret wrote:Just an educated guess but I would say it's now looking unlikely that we sign this midfielder we all know we need, in order to figure next season we're all aware that any potential new signing obviously needs a dyche pre season, may sound negative, nevertheless has in past seasons proved to be true, although I so hope I'm wrong.

I have to say, so far, I’m not impressed with this pre-season. A win against Port Vale, draw against Wigan and a loss against Crewe doesn’t bode well when we have to play 38 games against premier opposition. Whatever the pre-season apologists say, we should, at this point, be slaughtering teams like these.

Be thankful you aren't a Real Madrid fan. Friendly or not, 3-7 at home to the derby rivals ... Imagine if we conceded 7 at home to Blackburn in a friendly.

You’re quite with the “Dyche pre season” horsesh1t” There’s little more than a fag paper between all the prem fitness wise .Theyre ultra professional athletes with the very best training /conditioning /medical facilities /nutritional and sports science available . How often do we ever see any team truly knackered that it affects their play ?box_of_frogs wrote:I don’t get all this “needs a Dyche pre-season”. We’re not the fittest team in the PL.

Garlick knows Dyche can keep us in this League with minimal outlay. SD is a victim of his own success in some ways.

Yes it was only a friendly, but that second half was effing dreadful from us.
The only positive was Rodders and his movement. It's far superior to any of the other forwards.
