A win against Port Vale, draw against Wigan and a loss against Crewe doesn’t bode well when we have to play 38 games against premier opposition. Whatever the pre-season apologists say, we should, at this point, be slaughtering teams like these.
I think i'll go with SD. He knows what his team are about as he works with them every day. He says they are not game ready yet, we have two more games against good sides to get there. We will be fine, he knows what he's doing. Remember getting beat by Stanley in the Mickey Mouse Cup and then finishing 7th? Pre season is what it is, if we get smashed by Southampton 2 weeks today then i'll take my medicine, but I think we will be good to though. Relax.

Blimey the panic mob are early this year,Jay got on the scoresheet again,Dwight netted a cracker, and we could have scored 4 or 5 on another day, more importantly Ben Mee got an hour's match fitness.

In a month's time if we're collecting PL points at a decent rate nobody will remember today.

Didn't we get beat by the Isle of man team one pre season and still went on to win promotion under Stan, let's start the panic if Southampton beat us

I have a tried and trusted gambling algorithm
Crap pre season followed by an away score draw where you come from behind on the first day of the actual season. Guaranteed promotion. Seriously whenever a team does that lump on. Free money
If they come back from 2 goals or more back as champions and retire 48 games later
If you’re at home first day of season wait a year

Whilst there is a glaring need in central midfield ( and has been for a long time) pre season games rarely indicate how the season will be. Remember Juke being prolific in pre season but couldn’t hit a barn door in real games. Plenty of preseasons with poor games and results followed by quite good seasons.

It's quite interesting that when you hear or read what Dyche had planned for each pre-season game, individually, and the preparations for them, the result is very rarely mentioned, if at all.
We don't necessarily enter into these games with the intent, sole or otherwise, of winning.
It's excellent management as usual.

We are simply desperate for a midfielder, the stumbling block imo, is the likes of defour and hart's wage bill unfortunately.

The Isle of Man defeat came in the summer we'd already won promotion. Kevin Ball made his Burnley debut that day too, not the best of starts for him.

I think friendly games are massively relevant to a season and the results will directly impact on your season.

We beat Accrington 8-0....walloped them infact
Accrington beat Marseille 2-1
Marseille were in Europe League final in 2018 and only got beat 3-0 by Athletico Madrid
Athletico Madrid best Real Madrid 7-3....ie Marseille did better than Real Madrid
Wigan beat Man City in FA Cup in 2018
We drew with Wigan yesterday

By my reckoning that makes us better than Real Madrid, Man City and we’d absolutely smash Marseille.

It’s also worth having a cheeky bet on a Crewe V Athletico Madrid Champions League final.

If that’s right, which I am sure it isn’t, it would be financial mismanagement on a monumental scale!

Even if they’re both on 60k a week that’s 6 million quid for two players or 5% of the guaranteed tv money.

To put into context when we signed Robbie Blake he cost 30% of the tv money just in the transfer fee.

There’s no chance Defours and Harts wages are a stumbling block.

Can someone provide a link so that I can see the goals. I keep hearing about how good Dwight McNeil's goal was but can't seem to find it anywhere.

Just seen that the gate was 3,376, with 667 away fans.Whilst our following was poor, surely there weren't 2,709 in the stand opposite us? BTW Everton took 9,000 for their game there on Tuesday,
