Tony Tony Morley
Re: They came back to t'Turf
Does Mark Yates count? I maybe wrong but didn’t he make an appearance (or at least register due to the low amount of players we had) as a player when he came back with Cotterill’s management team.
Re: They came back to t'Turf
John Mullin
Re: They came back to t'Turf
Andy Payton in a sense, though his first spell was only in the youth team.

If Stan Ternent counts then you can't leave out Harry Potts.

Andy Payton never played for our youth team, he never had a first spell because we didn't sign him.dsr wrote:Andy Payton in a sense, though his first spell was only in the youth team.

Re: They came back to t'Turf
I think Leighton James is the only one to have had four different spells as a player at Burnley

I thought he signed a contract till the end of season from Swansea on a free transfer.

Might be so, think he might have been under contract at Swansea but they terminated it once Flynn had gone.claptrappers_union wrote:I thought he signed a contract till the end of season from Swansea on a free transfer.

It was forgettable. He had one really good game in the Sherpa Van game at York.chekhov wrote:Ah, thanks. Totally forgotten about that.
Re: They came back to t'Turf
Paul Crichton for the loan list.

Re: They came back to t'Turf
There are a few like that with a loan followed by a permanent with a short gap between. It would also bring in Paul McGee, David Reeves & James O’Connor.Fretters wrote:Paul Crichton for the loan list.
There’s also Mark Rhodes & Joe Neenan who were here on loan in 84/85 & signed permanently in the summer.

I didn't realise this was going to become so complicated. Perhaps I should have written some definitions to describe what I meant!

Then in that case, I’ll add
Michael Keane
Ben Mee
Kieran Trippier
All initially on loan before signing

They didn't leave before returning though. Crichton and the ones Tony listed did.claptrappers_union wrote:Then in that case, I’ll add

Re: They came back to t'Turf
He did, Jimmy Adamson brought him back as player/coach for the reserves - probably around 1973 or 1974. Think he was here for just a year and he didn't play for the first team at all.Dazzler wrote:Jimmy Robson?
