Re: Steven Defour will miss start of season
Don't think this is as bad as we fear. If it was major he'd be back in Belgium but he was in the photo shoot today which must mean he's still with the group.

News from the club is sparse other than the diagnosis that this is a niggle... but is it just a niggle, severe niggle, persistent niggle, cruciate niggle or even worse a biggle niggle.

Eiggle piggle had a biggle niggle. Did it landing after jumping out of it's underground home.Rodleydave wrote:News from the club is sparse other than the diagnosis that this is a niggle... but is it just a niggle, severe niggle, persistent niggle, cruciate niggle or even worse a biggle niggle.

He's not even 'back on the grass' yet. He's miles off.

He'll be back on his yacht before he is back on the grass......Murger wrote:He's not even 'back on the grass' yet. He's miles off.

bet you never thought you'd pen such a phrase Dave!Rodleydave wrote:a biggle niggle.
after the Wigan game Sean said:
'...Steven’s not close, he’s still recovering, he’s had a couple of niggles and upsets so we’re just having to work with him and wait for his body to get strong enough to join in with us...'

Time to pay up, Defour these injuries are not getting any better.
He was a gamble that partly paid off but now its time to move on without him

Re: Steven Defour will miss start of season
Not convinced we will see him this side of Christmas. I still don’t think we will see 5 consecutive games of more than 60 mins each all season. At least we can rely on our contingency planning ...
Re: Steven Defour will miss start of season
I love the photo of Defour with the duct tape in the foreground. Just in case he goes down when the camera flashes and needs taping up to continue.
I'm afraid the photo shoot could be the only shooting he does for a while.

I reckon if you remove the words "start of" from the thread title, it would improve its accuracy....

Re: Steven Defour will miss start of season
We need to forget about this player he's been injured far to long it will take him an age to get back to being match fit he isn't even on the grass yet.
He is ageing now, and will be slowing down with not played for eight months its going to be very difficult to get him up and running.
When he was playing he could only manage 60 mins and he was Defoured
His technicality will remain in his head now we need to pay off his contract and say a nice good buy hes never in a million years going to get back up to scratch in this league now not at his age we have been far to lenient we should have had words and negotiated to an agreement to buy out his contract i know its not as easy as that but we have carried deadwood for far to long when other areas need new investment

Re: Steven Defour will miss start of season
Agree with every word,he'll never be in the 1st team picture this season,he's literally just making up the numbers,if we can come to a suitable arrangement for all parties i'd happily wave goodbye, but SD has no reason to up sticks,he's on a decent wedge, and at his age.plus his fitness issues,he'll struggle to get any suitors.Longside4evr wrote:We need to forget about this player he's been injured far to long it will take him an age to get back to being match fit he isn't even on the grass yet.

Ideally we'd get Defour and Wells off the wage bill ASAP,and free up spaces for new signings,or even some youngsters breaking through (Benson for example).

Is a niggle better or worse than, touch and go? We know touch and go means months, how long is a niggle?
We could get some sort of algo built up.

Jesus, now they tell me, I backed him to be leading scorer by Christmas, wonder if he'll be classed as a non runner
