Style tonight

Post by cricketfieldclarets » Tue Jul 30, 2019 10:52 pm

6-1 in a friendly is a difficult one to read. But even before the goals started flying in we proper knocked it about with purpose and style.

Was particularly impressed with Pieters. Talked to and organised JBG all game and got stuck in. But was pretty good on the ball and going forwards too. Clearly hasnt come to sit on the bench. Wants the shirt.

Wood and Barnes were great together. And have to start the first game. One of the reasons for our slow start was this partnership missing for whatever reason. Wood looked quality tonight.

But the best thing to see was how we tried to knock it about. Nice are no mugs. But obviously didnt fancy it. But that has to be down to us as much as anything.

Only a friendly but looking good.

Thought we mixed it up well tonight...good possession at times, more direct at the right moments

Without getting carried away, that was a very good performance. Changed it a little in the second half, presumably
to practice defending deep and keeping our shape as we will have to in circa 70% of our games this coming season when
the better teams are knocking it about in front of us. We allowed them to do that in the second half to get that practice.

Impressed with Pieters and Hendrick played very well.

Well done to all I say.

Interesting to see McNeil playing CM for the second half.

Wells playing left midfield was a surprise but must’ve been purposeful.

Haven’t heard Hart communicate as much as he did tonight, constantly shouting shape and chatting to JT. Perhaps he’s been working on this over the summer?

Also Ben Gibson got straight in his car and flew off 10 minutes after the final whistle. Strange behaviour?

Some people get in their cars 10 minutes before the final whistle. That's strange behaviour too.

When I had a couple of games collecting autographs about 9 years ago with my lad. Grezza was the last to leave around 5.15 both times.

Gone are the days of a team bath and a few beers in the players lounge.

He wasn’t crying, he wasn’t on his phone. I think it’s strange that he was out of the place quicker than I was. Not on the bench, no injury noted. Perhaps he’s on his way?

Gibson's face dos not fit along with Wells & sadly Vydra, probably 28 million pounds worth of talent floating around in a void,we need to get shut of all three.

He is injured and probably just wanted to get home. Don't think it's that strange.
