£9million for Vokes, £2.3million cut of the Ings profit...£8.5m now for Heaton.

The key is basically the fitness of Pope.
If he only misses one or two games we have a keeper who helped us finish 7th.

Has Dyche said anything on Pope's fitness?

Gutted!
We are going to seriously regret losing Heaton
Seems like we have lots of ITK posters on here so just wondering why he won't sign a new contract? Is it wages, length of contract, etc?
Personally, I'd make him the highest earner and give him at least 2 years. 33 is no age for a keeper

Look at how long villa have been looking for that top class keeper, they've come with Tom, another top class keeper would cost what we can't afford, that's why we should be keeping him.

Including a legally binding contract that expires next summer. We could have kept him to that. Instead we have been too soft and obviously agreed to help him on his way once Pope was identified as the longer term preference. Now that Pope is injured, again, we are exposed.

I’m as gutted as anyone to see Heaton leave but just think back to that injury against Palace. Many, including me, thought that was us in serious trouble. We went on to have the best season most of us will ever see. It’s so sad to see Tom go but it’s in the best interests of the club.
On Popes injury - I don’t believe for a second we would let Tom go if this was anything more than a knock.

The last two summer transfer windows (including this one) Tom has been angling for a move away. The time is right imo, although I do tend to agree selling to a rival is foolhardy. However who are we to stand in Tom's way after the service he's given us

Some said he would be a big loss yet we haven't missed him at all. If Pope is fit soon then it could turn out to be a good bit of business.
We shall see.
TO an extent, that's true. But Heaton has been captain pretty much since he joined, so he's been the architect (from the playing side) of the dressing room culture that underpins our success. He's clearly in a different category in that respect to Vokes. And in any event, the more of those players who leave, the remoter the link to the beginning of the project becomes.

Too soft or identified someone who could become a dressing room issue if he's kept against his will.
Doubt that would be down to Tom's behaviour but having people who don't want to be there in a workplace can have a negative effect.

Well, we had the option of keeping him here for the next season. There doesn't seem to be any evidence that Heaton is actively agitating for a move or is becoming disruptive. Of course that might be the case, but if it isn't, then there was no pressure to sell. In those circumstances it seems surprising to me that we've prioritised cashing in on £9 million ish over keeping such a hugely influential figure, and a figure who did very well for us last season so clearly has plenty of football left in the tank - particularly when he'll be signing for a direct relegation rival.

I find it incredibly hard to believe that 10 players can be **** just because of the keeper behind them.
Some people say the lads don't like Hart or whatever, but that's clearly nonsense whenever you see him around the squad.

I wish people would show a bit more faith in Dyche. If he thinks the Heaton deal is right for Burnley and that Pope and Hart is all we need then that's good enough for me. I'd much rather trust Dyche's opinion than some whinging fan on a messageboard

Ridiculous decision to sell the club captain 10 days before the season starts , the usual suspects saying the club has done everything to keep him , what rubbish ,shouldn’t have been allowed to get to this .

Gutted, and £8m is no price for a keeper of Tom's quality but we still have two fantastic goalkeepers at the club.

On the plus side that should bring our cash bank balance to about £50m.
Our interest on this will hopefully pay for some new toilets in the Lower Jimmy Mac - fingers crossed.

The only news I could have woken up too this morning worse than losing Heaton, would be to lose Dyche. To lose our club captain at the start of a new season is absolute madness, I of course wish Heaton all the best but I simply cannot comprehend the club's decision here. The way he changed the team when he came in last season is irreplaceable.

How do you stop it getting to this? It's been clear for some time that he didn't want to sign a new contract and you can't force him to. We could keep him for a further year, potentially against his wishes, or sell him. Not sure what the club can do here.

Where is the money going? The Vokes sale covered Rodriguez. So we’ve spent less than 2 million this window. We keep getting these yearly cash windfalls, yet seemingly need to sell before buying. How? Are we gonna invest any of this money into the first 11 to help Dyche?

Obviously we don't know what's happening behind the scenes but Heaton wasn't shy about telling the press
play me or I'm leaving last December and the players would have been aware of that.

They may well have needed to sign a keeper...belt and braces etc....
But Hart ?...a big time keeper ..on massive money...all we needed was a few games cover
a big error of judgement , and Hart was always going to be an absolute white elephant...

It was slightly tongue in cheek, but we could have gone with Lindegaard for a bit or signed a keeper that isn't shite.
I'll didn't understand the signing at the time and I still don't.

After all he has done here you would think Dyche would be trusted by now, we still though have better managers on here (who don't work in football) along with better recruitment staff (who also don't work in football) all this talent on a messageboard going to waste.
For those saying with Heaton not playing we will go down, how did we stay up when he missed almost a full season injured ? There are a lot of people on here as usual hammering the club for selling someone who wants out and cashing in, yet if they had something they liked worth £5 today and nothing tomorrow they would be selling.

Can’t criticise the club for this one - it’s inevitable. He’d have almost certainly actively wanted the move and from there it’s just about agreeing a reasonable fee, which this probably is.

Don't need the money, don't need to sell. Heaton is a professional and will do a great job even if we kept him and he wanted out. Absolute madness to sell him to a potential relegation rival for £8m.

We had at least 2 and 3 if you include Hart (I personally dont rate Hart) so with Pope injured we'll be down to 0 top class keepers (as I dont rate Hart) unless Pope's injury is nothing to worry about.

Suicidal decision to let Heaton leave...If he won’t sign a new deal we make him stay this season until the end of the season...8 million is small change in comparison to the Premier League annual windfall...Deja Vu starting all over again...Joe Hart makes a few good saves but can’t get down to low shots and can’t collect crosses into the box because he is rooted to his line...Burnley bottom of the league...Suicide
