A true legend. He was a very good player and I was fortunate to see him play on a number of occasions. His name lives on through the foundation and the amount of money raised so far is absolutely fantastic.

One of the people in football I always wished I'd met and I'll never forget those pictures of him on his last public appearance at St. James' Park, so, so sad to see.

I really don't know where time goes. They didn't come much better than Sir Bobby. As said a true gentleman in every sense of the word.

And if Gazza hadn't been a mere inch away from getting to the ball in the dying moments against West Germany, I am sure he'd have been England's second World Cup winning manager too.

Are you thinking of Euro 96?

The Gazza 'miss' was Euro 96. Italia 90 was Waddle's penalty.

I might read Sir Bobby's book again. He was one of football's greats.

Great documentary about him on Netflix, great bit on how Barca screwed him over.

I was convinced Gazza's near miss was in the Italia 90 semi, but I will defer to those with better recall if so. My point still stands - we were close to beating Germnay and if so would very likely have won the World Cup again, under Bobby.

The miss was definitely Euro 96, however, we more than deserved to win in 1990. Absolute travesty that the Germans won that as we were the better side, no doubt about that.

Where has that ten years gone. Shows how short life is given it feels like just a few years ago....
