Re: Bailey Peacock Farrell
What's all this about Mercer the magician and wait till Billy gets his hands on BPF?
I haven't seen any evidence that he has improved Hart one iota. his performances last season and the stats compared to Heaton and Pope showed him to be be well behind them, and little signs of getting over his weaknesses.
Billy unfortunately has not been a magician with Hart, but that doesn't mean he can't achieve that with BPF like he did with Pope.

Heaton made more mistakes that led to a goal than Hart.northeastclaret wrote:What's all this about Mercer the magician and wait till Billy gets his hands on BPF?

Re: Bailey Peacock Farrell
Seems a solid signing and certainly one that can be improved upon. Only concern is he has been quite vocal in his quest for first team football - what with us needing a 2nd/3rd choice depending on Hart means he won't be seeing much first team football at Burnley in the near future, yet we can't really afford to loan him back out.

Ha ha you saying that Hart is better than Heaton , I wish other clubs had that view then they would be signing Hart for free instead of Heaton for a fee, that's the answer.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote:Heaton made more mistakes that led to a goal than Hart.

Never said he was better, just pointing out where Hart did better than Heaton last season, that's allowed with a stat isn't it?northeastclaret wrote:Ha ha you saying that Hart is better than Heaton , I wish other clubs had that view then they would be signing Hart for free instead of Heaton for a fee, that's the answer.

Re: Bailey Peacock Farrell
Importantly, can anyone confirm if this is the first signing of a treble named played since Eric Djemba Djemba?
Un-importantly anyone still quoting Joe Hart facts about how great a keeper he has been for Burnley needs to remove their head from their ****.
The comments about our GK coach are equally amazing, spotting and then turning Heaton and Pope into England internationals from relegated teams in the Championship. One of the reasons their hero Hart signed in the first place.

Improving a young player who is still learning and stepping up a level is easier than improving an established international in his thirties.northeastclaret wrote:What's all this about Mercer the magician and wait till Billy gets his hands on BPF?

Off the top of your head, how many footballers can you name who were established internationals in their twenties and made noticeable improvements to their game in their thirties? It's very rare. I can't think of any.

Was Graham Alexander an established international in his twenties ?
Re: Bailey Peacock Farrell
The point about Graham Alexander, who I have heard of you sarky so-and-so, is that he wasn't an established international in his twenties. To improve a player who is not at the top of the game is easier than improving a player who is.ksrclaret wrote:A chap by the name of Graham Alexander

Re: Bailey Peacock Farrell
It's a very subjective argument but you could say anyone who has football intelligence and their game doesn't rely entirely on pace - because by the time they reach their 30s they've absorbed the knowledge and experience they couldn't possibly have had in their 20s - Sheringham is an excellent example, you could make a case for Peter Crouch and Jermaine Defoe along the same lines - it's far from unprecedented.

Re: Bailey Peacock Farrell
True that he had half a season for us but wasnt overly impressive. It was suggested early on that Bielsa wasnt overly keen and would've been playing Jamal Blackman regularly instead if he hadnt broken his leg. Casilla was signed because BPF couldnt be relied on (although Casilla threw a few in towards the end). Around £3.5 million (if true) is about right for him at the minute.
I'll only say the same as I said with Taylor when you got him, if he's managed properly and coached well then he'll be a half decent player and Burnley do at least have a decent 'keeper coaching setup.
Only odd thing for me is that he's left to play more and then gone to sit on the bench as second or third choice?

All of the above and the fact that I don’t think he’s what you might call a fans favourite after his poor performances last season.
A fresh start on more money and at a higher level is a no-brainer.
