Premiership
As we don't play Rugby it would be lovely if some of our posters could learn the name of the league we actually play football in

Re: Premiership
My problem is that I can't hear the words 'Premier League' without prefacing it with 'Barclays'. And that makes me think of Owen Coyle.
Do I need counselling?

Re: Premiership
Who gives a sh*t. Surely there's more important things to worry about like people singing "in our Lancashire homes" instead of "home"

Managers used to get paid every time they said Barclays and I suspect Coyle earned the most.Sausage wrote:My problem is that I can't hear the words 'Premier League' without prefacing it with 'Barclays'. And that makes me think of Owen Coyle.

Re: Premiership
Google 'the premiership' and the first results will take you to here;
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
here;
https://www.premierleague.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
and here;
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Premier_League" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
So you're not wrong, but it's becoming like 'hoover vs vacuum' or 'tannoy vs pa'. I'm afraid it's part of it now.

dougcollins wrote:'til
Until, Till, or 'Til. Until indicates when something will happen, begin, or end. Till is not an abbreviation of until—it's actually older than until—and it should not be written with an apostrophe. 'Til turns up now and then, but major usage dictionaries and style guides consider it an error, so it's best to avoid it.

I must admit I always thought it was ‘TIL. Little embarrassing as a medievalist language student

Very true. I rarely listen but, when I do, I find it unbelievable that the host of the biggest show on the UK's biggest sports radio show can't be arsed to learn the name of the biggest league in the world.tiger76 wrote:Alan Brazil does everyone's head in so i wouldn't worry.
