Number 1
So if today’s rumours are to be believed and Tom is on way out and Bailey-Farrell on the way in, what is going to happen to the number 1 shirt?
Can’t see Bailey-Farrell will be given it as he’s not coming in as first choice
Will there be a reallocation of numbers?
We could The the only club with 4 senior keepers but without a number 1
(And yes I know not all first choice keepers wear the 1, but if they don’t you usually find the second choice does)

Re: Number 1
Nick Pope HAS to be number one. He’s a fantastic keeper.

Re: Number 1
Apologies if iI have missed it already answered but What is the injury Pope has got?
Re: Number 1
All depends if they have to be registered.
I presume as long as no competitive game has taken place the numbers can be swapped up until then.

Re: Number 1
No they don’t but imo number 1 should be a goalie and numbers 2-11 shouldn’t. Anything else is fair gameGodIsADeeJay81 wrote:Numbers don't really matter do they?
(And before anybody says it yes I know there was David James playing as a striker and Patricio last year at Wolves in goal with 11)

Re: Number 1
If Tom leaves, I would guess the number one shirt, and the number one position, goes to Joe Hart.
If Nick Pope comes back as good as he was pre injury, no reason when given the opportunity he couldn't take the number one spot again. But he doesn't get it just because a few `fans` reckon he's world class and `head and shoulders` above the others, because he quite clearly isn't.
Seems to be an awful lot of ill feeling towards JH around these parts. Same old Burnley tho… scapegoat needed - thing is, normally it's someone who isn't very good, as opposed to someone like JH who IS very good.
Seems to me the worse thing about JH is that he ISN'T Nick Pope or Tom Heaton...

Re: Number 1
Completely agree with you bobinhio apart from I think Pope will be official number one. Kind of been evident since his new deal.
I think joe hart did a good job last year despite the side playing so poorly in front of him, he’s a class act. I think he’ll be off too if popes fit with the Leeds lad number 2.
Bedwetters having a field day today.

I suspect we won't have a number 1 this year.

Completely agree with you apart from I think Pope is the best keeper of the lot and I’m happy Heaton has gone if it means Pope stays (which it clearly does)bobinho wrote:If Tom leaves, I would guess the number one shirt, and the number one position, goes to Joe Hart.

The worst thing about JH is your weird obsession with him

Re: Number 1
With Freddie Mercury injured again, can't see anything other than JH starting the season as no.1.
Once this season is over and the young lad from Leeds has had a year with Billy M, JH contract will come to an end and we'll have our new first and reserve goalies in place for the next few years.
I'm very happy with how the goalkeeping situation is being managed and at the same time, keeping to the principle of buying young with a view to adding value.
I don't think Paul Daniels pulled off as many tricks as SD has since he's been here.

Re: Number 1
Chris Boden has said Pope will be playing against Parma on Saturday, so he's clearly pretty much fit and will likely start the season for us.
Therefore - all is well.
