Will always be remembered as a burnley hero for me.
Sad to see him move on especially to a direct rival. We all know he’s going to play a blinder against us now aswell.

You've said it all, Tony. Football is not just about results. A club's heritage is forged by the people who work for it. In today's game there are, very sadly, fewer and fewer players who conduct themselves in a positive manner. Tom is an exception. Nobody who's met him has a bad word for him. On the contrary.
Tom has contributed to the heritage of Burnley F.C. Both on and off the pitch.

Absolutely and that makes today a little bit easier given that it is Tom's decision and something he wanted to do. Nothing but a credit to our football club in six years.ecc wrote:You've said it all, Tony. Football is not just about results. A club's heritage is forged by the people who work for it. Tom and Sam leaving both tugged on the heart strings. They epitomise what we are about as a club. It's that simple. Football moves on but both will always be Clarets.

With his performances, attitude and conduct around the club during his whole time here I am glad we have people at the club who decide to reward respect with respect. He leaves owing us nothing and with everyone's thanks hopefully.

Tom will always be a Claret ... one hell of a Servant to our beloved Burnley FC.
As long as he lets 5 in when we next come up against him like he did last time he was in goal for the opposition Brissle Titty

Great article, but from tomorrow I think we should all move on,a popular footballer has left our club,it's happened before and we are still here to tell the tale....life goes on.

Agree. Great player but think writing was on the wall when Pope signed new contract. Let’s get behind the new man between the sticks. Pope May turn out to be even better.Steve1956 wrote:Great article, but from tomorrow I think we should all move on,a popular footballer has left our club,it's happened before and we are still here to tell the tale....life goes on.

I still think one of them was always going. I think Pope signed his deal when he believed Heaton would go.Blackrod wrote:Agree. Great player but think writing was on the wall when Pope signed new contract. Let’s get behind the new man between the sticks. Pope May turn out to be even better.

I understand the sale, I just think in the current mare, the reported £8m is a joke
