Welcome To Turf Moor
I took my son to The Turf for the first time today (he’s 3 at the end of the month).
He lasted until the first goal and spent most of the time trying out every seat in the JMU (apologies to anyone who’s nerves he got on) and asking where Bertie Bee was.
It will be a couple of years before I risk taking him on a League game but he’s taken the first step. Years of whinging about transfer windows await.

Brilliant.
My little girl’s first visit today too - she managed to last the full 90 which I was surprised at as she nearly dropped off during the first half on my wife’s knee.

Good effort!! I saw you doing it from the Longside and thought thats what he may have been upto... picking his seat for next year!!!TheFamilyCat wrote:I took my son to The Turf for the first time today (he’s 3 at the end of the month).

Not bad really. Some good moves, Pope looked very confident, Lowton played very well, Hendrick had a good game, Jay Rod looks very sharp, Good to see Gibson involved, did well.... you get the picture... 2nd half thought we upped it quite a bit, and was good to see the young lads getting a run out. Bring on next Saturday!!!

Re: Welcome To Turf Moor
Nephews first game was when he was 1 at Duffs testimonial game - he lasted the full 90
He then did the Hannover game and like everyone else lasted until half time.
He came on for the European game against Olympiacos and last until half time of extra time.
He’s now 5 and got his first season ticket for this season

Lovely to see all you young families introducing your kids to the Turf, just like my dad did 55 years ago.

Fantastic to see these new young Clarets going on. My dad first took me on at a similar age 68 years ago. All my family are firm Claret fans and get on he Turf when they can. I'll be back from Spain for a couple of games in December. Bless us all.

Re: Welcome To Turf Moor
Looking at your photos, I’m reasonably confident me and my little lad were sat two rows behind you within a few seats of you and you certainly didn’t get on our nerves. I’d go so far as to say we didn’t notice you, so don’t apologise - enjoy getting over the first hurdle!
Jacob now sits and watches every minute of every game (he’s 8) and wants to go to every game we can. He usually provides a commentary but for his first season or two, he would often start asking for a phone to play with from about 30 minutes in.
You have to remember, we adults can still derive pleasure from watching a tight 1-0 or even a 0-0 draw, but for little kids it’s all about goals and blood and thunder challenges. That doesn’t happen most of the time!

Re: Welcome To Turf Moor
The one season we had in the Championship under Jimmy Mullen was when I first took my lad, just shy of his fifth birthday.
He spent most of the game asking when would we be going home, apart from when we scored and everyone stood up to cheer.
The noise shocked him so much, he burst out crying.

I dont blame him....it was the rest of the crowd, who didn't claim their seat!TheFamilyCat wrote:I took my son to The Turf for the first time today (he’s 3 at the end of the month).
