William Wilberforce
You may have known that he led a successful movement to end slavery in the British Empire, but what you might not have know is that he was a Tory MP.
Amazing, right? Against all historical record, Big Willy Wilbo was apparently a Tory, according to the Tories.

Re: William Wilberforce
In terms of his politics, he'd probably be a Conservative these days ... he was a founding Vice President of the London Jews Society, which would probably have ruled him out of the modern Labour Party ...

Re: William Wilberforce
If I remember correctly he turned independent as a result of his crusade not being popular on either side of the house. Served Hull I think, or a part of it. Alan Johnston (lab) also Hull is one of the leading experts... loves the guy.Imploding Turtle wrote:lol. No. He was an independent.
