Re: Kalvin Phillips
So as there will be no key players going now because it's too late in the window for teams to replace them should be a quiet last day and just reserve players will be sold.
Re: Kalvin Phillips
I have amazing predictive powers, so here is my prediction:
1. Tuesday we up our bid to £12 million plus Vydra. Leeds reject it (they value him a £30 million and out staff don't work weekends)
2. Thursday. Aston Villa bid £25 million and get their man.

Re: Kalvin Phillips
I reckon he'll have been talking to Wood and Taylor.
Re: Kalvin Phillips
I find the idea of us signing Phillips utterly laughable.
If Villa couldn’t get him 6/8 weeks ago, with all their cash to burn, then there’s zero chance we will with 4 days of the window left.

It’s a tactic we use often, pretend we’re genuinely interested in spending cash to keep the fans happy and then end up with cheap players.TsarBomba wrote:I find the idea of us signing Phillips utterly laughable.

This is only true if you take for gospel every tabloid transfer rumour. You’ve no idea what conversations might have been had between the clubs, agent and player.TsarBomba wrote:I find the idea of us signing Phillips utterly laughable.

Re: Kalvin Phillips
No point trying to do a swap deal at this stage in the transfer wimdow, far too many variables. If we want Phillips and they want Vydra they need to be done as seperate deals with the plan if one falls through on either side the other is still allowed to happen. The agents hold all the cards in these situations as they know you want the deal to happen and they often hike the personal terms and change the goalposts playing on the importance of the deal going through and know if you dont agree it is too far down the line to actively pursue other targets. This is why the Dybala and Lukaku deal keeps dragging on.

Re: Kalvin Phillips
Because he knows how much UTD need the deal to go through. He knows they will pay it as they are desperate. They cant keep Lukaku now and Juve wont pay the fee which has been obvious from the 1st day of the transfer window. They are even trying to now add Manducvic (?) To the deal to lessen their outlay even more.joey13 wrote:Plus Dybalas agent wants £13.4 million
Juve might have signed Ronaldo but that was subsised by Adidas and they have no money in their coffers.

£11million plus Vydra was supposed to be out opening offer for Phillips.
Maybe another 3/4 million might do it

This lad has been an obvious target the whole window , and if Leeds are interested in Vydra then it makes total sense .
And by obvious I mean, he fits the bill perfectly, not that we have been chasing him all summer . Thankyou

But they don't want Vydra or to sell Phillips so pretty much a non starter this one. This is probably the midfielder that Nixon said we were after and was unavailable.Hedontplayforyou wrote:How?

I'll be surprised if we manage to bring a midfileder in before the deadline now but one lives in hope

Yeh but dealing with facts rather just just criticising Burnley for apparently being at fault in any transfer deal isn’t as much fun.Hedontplayforyou wrote:He’s unavailable until the finances make him available.

Has he been an obvious target all window? We wanted Klich originally didn’t we? It just seems like our scouting hasn’t broadened in any way - Championship players, usually at Leeds or Stoke. It’s tired.Hedontplayforyou wrote:How?

Re: Kalvin Phillips
If he's available for transfer why's he starting for Leeds today, seems strange,if we can use Vydra as part of the deal to get this over the line, all the better,Vydra's never going to feature much so he might as well move on.

Dyche fit was prevalent to the time in the Championship which we were the fittest team in the league, we just never stopped all the game.Steve1956 wrote:Can you explain what "Dyche fit" is....I think it's some sort of myth thought up by someone on here, come on who's to blame for this crap....own up!
However PL is a different animal, all teams are exceptionally fit and Dyche fit dose not stand out as much.
Just my opinion

Re: Kalvin Phillips
You'd assume he could be both, depending on his gaffer's tactics.
Re: Kalvin Phillips
Oh I see ,it's not his natural game then
Re: Kalvin Phillips
I'd argue it is more of a sitter we need. Someone to take over Cork's role in the side.
It'd allow Westwood to push forward, press harder, snap into tackles and win the ball high up the pitch.
