Just going to watch the highlights now, so I'll let you know.......
Betinelli, Bryan, Mawson, Le Marchand, Odoi, Cairney, Johansen, McDonald, Kamara, Cavaleiro, Mitrovic......

Not a lot different to last year, must be some reduced wages there!

Ah so Mitrovic is still there. Then they MUST be one of the top 2 this season.

Fulham have still got Mitrovic (presumably the "lump up front") but some of their loans have returned home (eg Schurle).
They've loaned out some of their big earners (eg Seri and Anguissa) to get them off the wage bill. Babel went on a free too so he's off the wage bill.
Kept Mawson, Bryan and Cairney (and Kev McDonald); got Knockaert in on loan.

They should be able to push for a play-off place I would think unless they have to shift more out to get the wage bill down- though they obviously didnt start well up at "Burnsley" yesterday.

No, they were shocking.....midfield easily nudged off the ball, very fragile, spent a lot of time on the floor

Ha yeah, that's what I meant. He's a good player, but still looks like a lump when he's playing - who just happens to score :)

I'd be surprised if they settled for a playoff place. Knockaert is a good acquisition.

So you noticed the similarities too, closing down in midfield & defenders throwing themselves in front of the ball?

This from the BBC match report.

Phillips was exceptional in midfield against the Robins; breaking up City attacks, keeping possession smartly and spreading the play with passes to wide areas.

Sounds like exactly the type we need in midfield, wins the ball and keeps it simple.

He's only 23 so can only improve you'd hope.

Be happy if this signing went through before the deadline, and if we can get an unhappy Vydra out the door at the same time, all the better,he's clearly not in our 1st team plans,so he might as well make the move to get regular action.

Was he that good???
Watched the game and never really heard him mentioned
Not always a bad thing I suppose when being a defensive midfielder

But anyway young and raved about so if it happens then good but not so sure he'd displace Westwood or Cork

I didn't see the game myself so can't give any personal view, hence why i'm going off the match reports,if not him then who, because virtually everyone agrees that we need a CM in this window.

Defour's here in name only, the best case scenario is he might feature around Xmas, and that's crossing our fingers,so unless we're going to fast track young Benson into the team squad,we need strengthening in the middle of the park.

He's a very good ball player so he does create chances. I think a lot of people have seen him today, but he has an eye for goal and good at protecting the defence too. He's just a very very good central midfielder.

But, he aint coming here. They're not going to let him go on the cheap.

He was good but not outstanding IMHO, gave away a free kick on the edge of the box which could have been costly, but overall decent in what he did without being flashy.
Surprised Eze at QPR hasn't got a move this window, thought he'd be on Howe's radar. Different player to Phillips but could improve with better players around him

In terms of creativity , I think last season was our highest for goals scored in a PL season.

Yes, Leeds hold all the cards here, at least until next year if he doesn't sign a contract extension. Unless Long fancies a trip over the Pennines with Vydra, or Dunne goes on a season-long loan, either way he'll not be cheap.

We could do with a central midfielder agreed but necessity??Thing is if we do sign one they'd be from championship and not too many from there better than what we have

Don't get me wrong though any quality championship addition is a positive

Due to lack of numbers and risk of injury the central midfield situation needs resolving urgently, and we have big earners on our books who appear "surplus to requirements", who would do a great job at Leeds.
We should go in tomorrow with a minimum 15 million bid with Vydra and Hart included additionally as part of the deal
This should please almost everyone. I'm sorry we haven't seen the best of Vydra, but he deserves a chance elsewhere now, and although I'm personally not averse to keeping Hart, if it's Hart or a quality CM, then I'd risk letting him go and put my faith in Pope and Bailey PF.

Leeds are looking for a keeper so we should offer them Vydra and Peacock-Farrell for Phillips and get this one over the line.

As much as I'd love us to sign him, I think there is more chance of us bringing Kevin Phillips out of retirement to lead our line.

Not sure we do.
Lennon, JBG, Dwight, full backs bombing on, Brady, Jay at a push if played out wide, Westy through the middle. Our options for creativity are there, maybe you don't like them hence your statement but think SD will be counting on these for creativity.
Looks like he's the young signing we need to replace Cork, give him 6 months/12 months to settle in and slowly bring him into the team ready for next season
