I’m a fan, and I desperately want Burnley to stay in the Premier League. But I’m realistic and I see strength in the clubs around us, I see the middle of the league spending well and bringing in quality furthering the gap, and I see us struggling in a competitive market because rightly we are ensuring the clubs future comes first.

We know that we will eventually fall away, I hope we manage to get safety and more, but eventually the miracles and they are miracles, that Dyche, the staff and players pull off each season will fall short.

Exactly what have they done to give you the hard on, Frank? They’ve just spent a fortune but haven’t beaten anybody yet.

Are there 3 worse than us?

In the period between Jan and May 2019 there were 13 premier league teams worse than us....

Given that 3 have been replaced by ones of similar standard I would say that odds of 6/1 for us to finish top ten are very good indeed.

As per usual the lazy pundits will be writing our obituary this week....

A strange post, but I'll reply anyway. I hope you're right, but if you've stalked me for as long as I think you have, you should know I'm always negative with things like this. And you know what - I'll continue to be.

It normally works! ;)

Not correct earlier last year. Which is why I said we were faves to go down every year.

By the way - I don't think we will go down.

Less of this positivity, Frank. You’ll jinx us.

You should have finished your post there, Daniel.

Providing we are more consistent than the first half of last season, then we will finish mid-table. A respectable 10-12th place.

Why so confident?

Because the players have determination, team spirit, hard graft, passion and a real work ethic. The manager and his training staff, and the owners and board are all pushing in the same direction. That’s why we are Premier League and Leeds (huge club  ) championship.

I would feel more confident if we had signed a couple of midfielders who know how to retain the ball. A midfield of Westwood and Cork/Hendrick worries me: we will be overrun in midfield even by the likes of Soton, Palace, Newcastle etc.

The Ladbrokes prices for the above clubs was the same as at 29 July

On a different thread reference was made to a TV programme airing on Wednesday "Can you beat the Bookies"?

Not at those odds on offer you can't.

Odds also on offer of 6/1 for Burnley to finish bottom of the pile and just 4/11 to stay up and 1/16 for a Bottom Half Finish.
Who's quoting 1/16 on a bottom half finish??? That implies a minimum 12/1 on a top half finish, which I'd have a have a cheeky tenner on.

Only if the bookies don't want to make money. 1/16 and 12/1 gives an over-round, or bookies' profit, of about 2%. The odds will be a good bit shorter than 12/1 when they're opposing 1/16 in a two horse race.

William Hill. Their odds for a top half finish are just 7/1.

8/1 is the best available.
