The Ballad O'Long Preston Peggy
The Ballad O'Long Preston Peggy
I can't remember who mentioned it, but a short time ago when I said where I was from they brought up the subject of an old poem... mentioning the Village I live in.
The Ballad O'Long Preston Peggy.
Its from a book called the 'Story of Lancashire'
I have found the copy I had (well the Mrs has just dropped it in my lap as I am watching "Homes under the Hammer" )
All 11 verses of it

When the RAF play cat-n-mouse flying low-level up the Valley you can look down into the Pilots cockpits
Oh yeah and unlike Barley plenty of parking around the village

I recall a few years ago staying at a really nice campsite at (or near) Long Preston, I think it eventually became caravans only much to my annoyance, Is it still there? Can't remember the name of the site but it seemed like it was on two levels and was very open,

The Boars Head could do with a few more hanging baskets outside don't you think Bosscat
We drive through the village most weekends and it can be very busy with traffic, what's it like living there Bosscat ? Must try the walk over to Settle.
