My mate asked why there was an L & R on Welly boots ... I told him "it was for Left and Right feet..."

Left footed centre halves are at a premium so there's a chance they'll have played at the left side all their life. Right footers on the other hand (foot) will have filled in at the left side much more so have better experience of playing at the 'wrong' side.
