If this turns out to be a 2pm kick off on the Sunday which is likely there is realistically only the first train from Burnley Central at 09:34 and takes three hours to reach Wolverhampton. Do bear in mind that a large majority of Northern Rail trains are cancelled on Sundays due to drivers not turning up it is a risky option.

X43 to Manchester, 5 minutes walk to Piccadilly station and the cost of the train ticket will almost certainly be much less than from Manchester Road.

Anyone going from Manchester be aware cross country rail are striking on Sunday serverely affecting the schedule. Not many direct trains to or from wolves. We are drinking in Birmingham first but look like being disrupted.

For anyone considering the train I would say that Piccadilly is the favoured option. Just read one of the posts above that says CrossCountry are striking on Sunday. You can do the journey without using this company.
You can go with Virgin changing at Crewe then Virgin again from there to Wolverhampton.
You can also go with Virgin to Stafford then from there to Wolverhampton with West Midland trains.

For the return journey - 18.55 train from Wolverhampton to Piccadilly via Stafford. Gets into Manchester at 20.15.

I've been quite a few time and visit if I'm local with work, Lenny Henry was in there at one Burnley game in the early 2000s.

I'm sure there used to be a curry counter and chippy at one point

I've never been able to find a good parking place there and always seem to get caught up in traffic after the game.

Last season we parked on just off the main road running down to a ground. Drove past the kfc (might be a McDonald’s) on the left as you head to the ground, round the roundabout and back on the other side of the duel carrageway then did a left onto a side road. Got away no problems.

Edit - it was called Oxley Avenue just off the A449.

We parked by the Mr Tyre place, 1, Moseley St, Wolverhampton WV10 6HL, UK a couple of years ago. £5, easy in and out after the game. Go the light rail in from Snow Hill the last couple of times though. Beers in Birmingham pre match.

We park on side road just before mcdonalds and walk back up the hill to a pub on the roundabout. Never had any trouble with the natives and been there a few times with my lad.

Must be better than the sh*thole we had last time. Broad daylight on a Sunday with trance blaring. **** beer and no food! It was called outback.

Maybe I'm just getting old....

Yes that place (which is a nightclub) is still advertising itself as the official away pub but I've checked with our Police Liaison Officer and it is The Blue Brick.

I'd avoid it like the plague in any case!

Interesting re The HoodedRam........I don’t think they’re brewing it here on a The Isle of Man anymore as apparently Raj, the chap recently behind it has fallen out with certain people here on the island......last I heard he’d gone to live in Monaco (very similar of course weather wise !)

Shame really ‘cos it’s decent beer....
