Excellent. I think this Transfer Window can be regarded by most as a success.

Have we ever had a player who’s been signed for more money in his career?

yes, spot on - to 6th JanSonofPog wrote:Just a change CT, website says "Drinkwater – a key player in Leicester City’s epic 2016 title triumph – has joined the Clarets on loan from Chelsea in a deal running until 6 January." Not a season long loan.

Groundhog Day!
Great signing and an upgrade on what we have got. Only shame is that it is not a full season loan or permanent deal.

Good signing. Shame it's only until January - was expecting a season-long loan. Perhaps it can be extended come January?

Re: BREAKING NEWS: Drinkwater signs to fill the midfield gap
I thought it would be season long with Chelsea having a recall option, but this, at worst, gives us time to plan ahead should he leave or potentially keep him for longer should he and we want him to stay.

Re: BREAKING NEWS: Drinkwater signs to fill the midfield gap
That's not a bad thing. It's in their interest to want to see him well here. Hopefully will get extended
Dyche and his loan signings however.... He might only get 3 games here

Odd.
Presume Chelsea are hoping to flog him in January.

Re: BREAKING NEWS: Drinkwater signs to fill the midfield gap
Lets have it right....this is a pretty **** deal. Get him fit....wait until Cork has a few bad games. Then the thinking will be whats the point of playing DD for 5 or 6 games and upset Corky when DD is going back to Chelsea.
Trying to look at the positive in this but personally think we have had our pants pulled down.

It’s not odd. Both him and Chelsea will be using this as a 5 month audition.agreenwood wrote:Odd.

Re: BREAKING NEWS: Drinkwater signs to fill the midfield gap
Let's hope SD gives him a game.
Re: BREAKING NEWS: Drinkwater signs to fill the midfield gap
Not odd in that we probably had to agree to the January date to have any hope of signing him.agreenwood wrote:Odd.

Re: BREAKING NEWS: Drinkwater signs to fill the midfield gap
Exciting. Played his best football in a 442 playing a direct style of play.... bodes well.
No problem with it being until January. If he plays and does well it'll be extended. If he doesn't who cares?

Re: BREAKING NEWS: Drinkwater signs to fill the midfield gap
6 months is disappointing. Got to think he’s going to walk into the starting XI and Chelsea want to sell him jan.
Window on the whole hasn’t been that good again.

I’m sure we did, but in the absence of a permanent signing, I was hoping this would at least cover us for a full season.Spijed wrote:Not odd in that we probably had to agree to the January date to have any hope of signing him.

Maybe on the basis of our previous loans Chelsea would only let him go for 6 months?

If it works out and he enjoys himself with us would we have an option to buy in January?

Re: BREAKING NEWS: Drinkwater signs to fill the midfield gap
They've no restrictions on sales,it's just incomings they can't handle ATM,of course they have an appeal in process so this could change by the next window, might explain why it's only a short-term loan for Danny.ICL wrote:How long is the Chelsea transfer embargo for? Could they sell him January?

Re: BREAKING NEWS: Drinkwater signs to fill the midfield gap
Don't get this. we have young midfielders out on loan and in the U23's doing well and we sign a journeyman who hasn't played for 2 years.

Re: BREAKING NEWS: Drinkwater signs to fill the midfield gap
Good loan signihg and he's perfect for our style of play. He's played fro Chelsea pre season i think? so no reason to believe he's not pretty fit. Couple of weeks to get on the pitch i'd imagine but this is a real ugrade on the current hardworking but wooden midfield
Re: BREAKING NEWS: Drinkwater signs to fill the midfield gap
Good signing. Fits our style of play like a glove.
