Liverpool don’t look particularly tight at the back. They could easily be behind.

Norwich are trying to get forward. I think it’ll hurt them though later.

Yes, admire their approach but they’ll be in for a long, painful season.box_of_frogs wrote:Norwich are trying to get forward. I think it’ll hurt them though later.

Re: Liverpool v Norwich
relentless from Liverpool
Re: Liverpool v Norwich
Norwich exactly as I expected. Clean passers of the ball, always looking to play out from the back, hopeless whenever someone tries to get in behind.

Yep, and it cost us. Makes me laugh when experts like Carragher say “they’ll be ok”, not understanding the effects of repeated demoralising thrashing’s.TheFamilyCat wrote:A bit of Burnley under Coyle about them I think.

Looks like Liverpool will be top on GD after the first round of games.
Unless we stick 8 past Southampton of course.

Sounds like they need Delia to buck the travelling fans up !

Expansive football with Grant Hanley at the back...Norwich are insane.

Re: Liverpool v Norwich
If Norwich continue to play like this they will take some heavy defeats. Their ability to concede goals was there for all to see last season.

Re: Liverpool v Norwich
Yep. Clearly a championship squad given their lack of financial clout - but the least they could do is adapt to be difficult to beat. It’s just too easy for smarter, better teams. Puts me in mind of our early trips to West Brom under DycheyClaretTony wrote:If Norwich continue to play like this they will take some heavy defeats. Very, very naive of Farke to think they could just carry on from last year.ClaretTony wrote:If Norwich continue to play like this they will take some heavy defeats. Their ability to concede goals was there for all to see last season.
Maybe some of those who think SD needs to be “more progressive” may realise the value of the framework.

Re: Liverpool v Norwich
you can't concede 57 goals in the Championship and play the same way in the PL, superb for us though, the sooner there are 3 times down the bottom the better

Interesting Norwich's passing % is 81% which is better than most our games last season. Their defence is just bonk.

We conceded more goals under Dyche last season than we did under Coyle in the equivalent period.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote:Ah but it was exciting football and that's all some Burnley fans remember.
If Norwich are in 14th with 20pts come the end of December Im sure they'll be absolutely ecstatic

Playing short passes between the defenders, keeper and defensive mid. Good for stats, not so good if you want to avoid inviting pressure away at the Champions of Europe...FactualFrank wrote:Interesting Norwich's passing % is 81% which is better than most our games last season. Re: Liverpool v Norwich
Scousers will deffo be thinking about goal difference, the margins between them and City are so small, City will comfortably stick 7 past Norwich if they play like this
Re: Liverpool v Norwich
Norwich are a neat side but they must learn from this and establish a solidity if they are to achieve anything close to 17th position this season.
It’s only their first game but their manager has got to learn quickly.

Exactly what I was thinking, Burnley under Coyle.TheFamilyCat wrote:A bit of Burnley under Coyle about them I think.

Look good going forward, but like a sieve at the back.
Coyle never had a plan B, if Farke doesn't these are doomed to relegation.
Re: Liverpool v Norwich
Fair enough regarding away form under Coyle in Prem but his system got us the five straight home wins with a very average side that unlike Norwich came up through the playoffs. Yes his way of playing got found out but I still think until this day that if he hadn’t done what he did and concentrated on us in my opinion he would have got the most out of his players to have got the extra six points to stay up.ClaretTony wrote:It wasn’t exciting - got beyond a joke taking the big beatings away
We are a different team under Dyche but even in his first year in Prem we didn’t get the first away until near the end of the season.
Norwich will probably go down due to lack of summer investment but they should carry on playing the way they do rather than parking the bus and still go down.

I'm going to watch the second half while listening to BBC R5. Can't be doing with Spitter and his inane commentary.
