So far so good - maybe a couple more for Liverpool as they chase the GD and then the summer's international football starts to catch-up with the likes of Salah, Firmino and Mane and they pick up minor niggling injuries which keep them out until after their trip to TM at the end of the month.

VAR stop play and the second half hasn’t even kicked off!
Re: Liverpool v Norwich
Did they just say that there aren’t the resources to have a VAR referee at each ground and so all decisions go to London for review!?
That’ll speed things up on Saturday with 6 games going on.

I was under the impression there would be 1 set of VAR officials per game still? Just that all matches would be VARed from the same roomDCWat wrote:Did they just say that there aren’t the resources to have a VAR referee at each ground and so all decisions go to London for review!?

Re: Liverpool v Norwich
Two really tight offsides just given against Norwich. Surely with VAR the lino should let them go. If they are off, they will see on the vid; if he’s got it wrong though, the game is stopped and the potential chance has gone.

Vegas Claret,
As you know I like to give my predictions as to where we'll finish based on the results that have already occurred, and how I see teams performing.
As a result of tonight's game I'm fairly certain we'll finish above Norwich.

How long will Alisson be out for? Do we know what his injury is?
EDIT: Pure coincidence that I posted just as Norwich scored (assuming VAR doesn't reverse...). I'm only "watching" on BBC Sport.

But if it is impacting on the PL “product” shouldn’t they have some responsibility for making sure it is sufficiently resourced?

I thought VAR was to let the play go on, and THEN blow the whistle?
Norwich have had 4 quick whistles for some questionable offsides calls.
They had no problem letting Liverpool play on for their second goal (salah was barely onside).

I'm sure I've read somewhere that that's the idea, "big club" let's see if "VAR says no," "small club" - "give the decision against - and VAR will confirm, if you missing giving the decision against."AshevilleNCClaret wrote:I thought VAR was to let the play go on, and THEN blow the whistle?

Thank goodness Burnley is a "big club."
Re: Liverpool v Norwich
The defensive axis of krul and hanley looks as dodgy as it looked last season (on the few occasions when Norwich were missing two of their 3 decent cb's).
It's good to see farke reward the players who won promotion last season by starting 11 of them in the first game at a field.
The expert analysis is vomit inducing. He's pretty much told us the his team are fantastic and Norwich are shite for 85 of the 87 minutes. The other two he was a bit quiet when pukki scored.
Leave him to comment on games between the top 6, please. Or just ditch him.

Re: Liverpool v Norwich
Haven’t watched the game but a good one for Norwich to get out of the road first up. It will get easier for them from here, of course.
Congrats to the OP who I think suggested a 4-1 win. It’s never easy to accurately predict matches such as these.
I imagine Grant Hanley can only succeed as a gimmick.

Re: Liverpool v Norwich
Don’t think we’ve learned anything tonight. It was always going to be a total football masterclass for wannabe Norwich. Getting that defence tightened will be a tough ask to keep their ‘niceness’ in their game... if they don’t they will be tonked on a monotonously regular basis, and a Derby like points total awaits Fry and co.

Looking at the fixtures it's likely that we'll be last on MOTD tomorrow night unless it's a thriller,Watford-Brighton could also be a contender.Top Claret wrote:Joke of a fixture and a silly one sided one at that.

The other games involve top 6 teams,or newly promoted sides, apart from Palace-Everton which has the Zaha factor to add to the mix.
A harsh lesson for Norwich but that's life in the big league, they'd better adapt quickly otherwise they'll be on the receiving end of some drubbings, they were fortunate the Scousers coasted through the 2nd half.

Re: Liverpool v Norwich
Bore of a football match that Liverpool treated as a training session. If Liverpool had have wanted they could have doubled that score line.
Norwich are a side that lack experience at this level and will obviously struggle
Confidence is a big thing and they need to get a win in the next couple of games, are their season could be over before it starts

Let's face it the likes of Huddersfield and Cardiff were rank bad last season. I think Norwich and Sheff United will be far more competitive. They might struggle away but Bramhall Lane and Carrow Rd certainly won't be easy places to go.
