Best place to buy a phone outright?
Best place to buy a phone outright?
My contract comes to end soon and I'm looking to go sim only, putting a new phone on an interest free credit card. I thought you could buy phones outright from the networks but that doesn't seem to be the case. Would the best place be Amazon/Ebay? Or can anyone recommend another site?

You can do a lot worse than buying from the manufacturer direct.
Cash back for your old device, unlocked also.
Samsung will give you up to £150 for your old device, you could get something like anA70 for just over£200 + your old phone as an example.
The 3 network are doing unlimited data, calls and text sim's for 20 quid a month, half price for the first 6 months.
Hope this helps.

I bought my Samsung S9 Plus (unlocked) from Amazon (it was 1/2 the price of Carphonewarehouse) and have a sim only contract.Fretters wrote:My contract comes to end soon and I'm looking to go sim only, putting a new phone on an interest free credit card. 3gb data, unlimited minutes and texts with BT £8 a month have had it over a year and reckon its paid for itself..... as I sold my old S6 Plus on Ebay and got £300 quid for it because the wife didn't want it.

What are you after?
I'd check hotdealsuk for one.
I got a Pixel 3 from O2 on a 1 month contract for £379. I know they've had good deals on it but this was the best by far.

Re: Best place to buy a phone outright?
I've just renegotiated my Sim only contract with BT as my 12 months were up. I quoted sky doing 8gb/unlimited txt&mins for a tenner. They offered me 10gb faster data/unlimited txt and minutes for a tenner with free BT sport app on my mobile which I can mirror to my TV. Happy days.

Update, if anybody cares: Decided to get a new battery and new crack-free rear glass for my existing S8 using http://www.wefix.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (amazing service) and dropped down to a SIM only contract - £15 a month for 20GB data and unlimited texts and minutes with EE.
Job done!

Good decision. Amazing to think the main reason people change their phone is because of battery degradation.Fretters wrote:Update, if anybody cares: Decided to get a new battery and new crack-free rear glass for my existing S8 using http://www.wefix.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (amazing service) and dropped down to a SIM only contract - £15 a month for 20GB data and unlimited texts and minutes with EE.

The manufacturers make it hard to replace batteries for a reason.
But when phones are as expensive as they it's a complete farce.
