New season no seat

Post by claretburns » Sat Aug 10, 2019 8:26 pm

Felt so good today walking into the CFS for the new season only to arrive in the new block for home fans at seat 83 for seat 83 to not exist, how can the club be this unorganised selling seats that don't exist?

You’re not the only one, I had seats 82, 83 and 84 as my new season tickets - I’ve been told it will be sorted.

The irony is that the official line for the delay in issue of the new season tickets was down to ground development and seat reorganisation.

That worked then.

Operational side of the club had a bad day.

Fans soaked awaiting the opening of the JH turnstiles. Eventually opened a handful well after 2pm and had to rope in stewards to man them.

No idea what has happened to the usual turnstile staff.

Not one to criticise but leaving hundreds of fans waiting outside the JHU turnstiles in the face of a monsoon, well after 2 oclock was utterly despicable. Not one word of proper explanation or apology with stewards eventually blaming the turnstile operators and the ground safety officer. It was rumoured that some turnstile operators hadn't turned up and so all the JHU turnstiles remained closed- however JH lower turnstiles were apparently all open. Don't know why they couldn't split the operators between the two instead of letting hundreds of fans get a proper drenching including many elderly fans - indeed a 80 year old couple had been waiting at least 20 mins and were soaking wet with the prospect of sitting in wet clothes for several hours.I was incandescent with rage at the lack of action and concern from the security supervisors and two of them inside the turnstile ,dry and undercover got the wrath of my tongue. Truely abysmal from these security people and it doesn't reflect well on the club.In addition when they finally opened the turnstiles no security checks were undertaken.Spoke to Darren Bentley about it and to be fair he was very sympathetic and said that he would investigate.Shambolic at best and disrespectful to loyal clientele.

I'm more shocked that people are actually shocked.

Some fans expect way too much IMO

One of the stewards told me that they bus in turnstile staff. No idea if that’s true.

For info - I've just had a clarification mail from the ticket office regarding the seat numbers. It appears that the actual seats are going to be renumbered for the next home game, so there will be no gap in numbers across the aisle - at least that's my understanding of it.

So those with season tickets in seats 83 and 84 will still have that number seat which will be what used to be seats 81 and 82 and all the seats will be shifted over by 2 if that makes sense. I'm guessing it's probably easier and cheaper to renumber the seats that to print and reissue season cards to everyone.

They should do this right across the ground 3 or 4 times a season as a sort of find your seat pre-match entertainment

Aren’t they manned by stewards every game?

Used to be mainly done by younger Burnley fans (mostly students) and overseen by the legendary Jim Thompson. He ran a tight ship

I can understand how you may be a bit p1ssed off but “I was incandescent with rage“?? You need to watch your blood pressure if you get so wound up over getting wet and being made to wait outside for a bit.

A lad I know has had season tickets at the JH end of the CFS for past few seasons ..... the seat which was written on his ST has never actually existed though

Which was quite funny when a steward said he was sat in the wrong seat and had to go to his seat - seeing the steward try and locate his seat was brilliant

My brother gave his colleague’s dad a lift to the Man Utd game in 2009; he went to his seat that he’d had for years in the BLS to find it had been removed (I think for an extra tv camera).

He was raging about it all the way back to Leeds after the game. We tried to point out that we’d just won our first top flight game for 33 years but he couldn’t see past his missing seat.
