well deserved 3 points in a monsoon.

Post by Wile E Coyote » Sun Aug 11, 2019 12:11 am

In appalling conditions this was a great sign of things to come.
Both teams must have struggled to do what was expected of them in that deluge, but McNeil managed it just fine.
Some of his runs were sublime, I was a bit surprised at the mediocre ratings he received .
They were jaw dropping from where I was sat, what a talent.
Barnes finishing was genuinely top drawer, and the 3rd from JBG was class from the second he won the challenge.
As an opening fixture, its difficult to tell how things will pan out, but based on today, I reckon we will be more than able to deal with whatever comes our way this season. Thought the atmosphere was great too. Rock solid performances across the pitch, excellent.

Great start. We couldn’t afford to lose ground on Liverpool and City this early on.

He'll keep his job until a better black pundit arrives.

3 points,3 goals(very well-taken)and a clean sheet,can't ask for more than that 1st up.

We need to turn TM into a fortress again,we lost 10 home games last season,i certainly don't see us losing that many this season.

No i don't Tim, but as virtually every dim witted, pundit in the land adores the southern ponces, they are not without noisy and vapid backing .

Sign of how good McNeil is that Saints had 2 men on him all the time.
Ok, it nullified him a bit but it also opened up space for others.
Anyone who says our manager is tactically inept as this so called "little" club of ours embarks on our 4th consecutive season in the Premier League needs to give their heads a bit of a wobble.

Watched it all again on GotD. Our defence were immense and were talking to each other every chance they got. No histrionics just advise, exactly what was missing 12 months ago.
The passing further forward could have been better but we’ll give them some slack with the conditions.
Good signs, and what a bench we should have every week.

McNeil did some very important defensive work.

He’s just one of 11. We have to avoid expecting too much from the lad. He’ll have good games, bad games and ordinary games. The danger is we’ll slag him off when he doesn’t reach his usual high standards. We do it with all the other players, let’s just cut him a bit more slack due to his inexperience. Nothing wrong with saying a player had a bad game, it’s the vitriol that sometimes accompanies the criticism.
