New Rules

Post by Cleveleys_claret » Sun Aug 11, 2019 7:05 pm

Quick questions as there seems to be vagueness with everything I read regards the new rules.

1) I was under the impression that with penalties that once a keeper has saved the ball that play stops and a goal kick is given. I am sure this is what was propsed by FIFA but I am guessing it is not as black and white as that otherwise yesterday players would not have been lining up on the edge of the box ready to run in.

2) I also thought players had to exit from the nearest touchline when subbed. Yet yesterday if I recall rightly every player went to the normal place where sunbstitutions take place. Did I miss a player exiting the pitch in line with the new rules?

The first one with the penalties was proposed, but they scrapped the idea.

Second one was mentioned during the commentary in the West Ham v Man City game, but I can't say I noticed it this weekend.

When a penalty is awarded ..does that go to VAR,thought the United one today was just given and no checks, football is getting awfully confusing

I did notice yesterday that all the players substituted at’t Turf left the field at their own dug out. Even Dwight Mcneil who walked slowly over 3/4 the width of the pitch.

Only under certain circumstances would we see a difference in the substitute rule. Eg, home teams losing. Other than that it’d be how it was imo.

United penalty. The ref kept Rashford waiting until he got the ok from the men at VAR. Didn’t take long as it was quite easy to confirm.
