I was in Salford in ‘92, don’t think it was the same class though.

Anyone seen G.Nevilles twitter war this weekend with John O Kane? A lot of the United faithful have turned on Neville now and you could hear the abuse aimed at him today from those that he was once a hero to

Re: Class of 92 - Salford
Kane slated the Glazers because of this new billion pound loan or however much it is that they have just took out against the club. Neville piped up about how can somebody that never respected the shirt say anything on the subject plus a whole lot more. The fans have over the last few years questioned Nevilles loyalty as he has never really voiced an opinion on the Glazers. Obviously for the purpose of being able to build his hotel with their consent. So obviously the fans are saying he is only interested in siding with the Glazers for monetary reasons and not interested in the long term damage they are doing to the club

The Neville’s grew up Bury fans because of their dads long association with the Shakers.... if you want to work out Gary’s loyalties.Cleveleys_claret wrote:Kane slated the Glazers because of this new billion pound loan or however much it is that they have just took out against the club. Not sure that's correct. They had a season or so as burnley fans too based on where their dad worked.elwaclaret wrote:The Neville’s grew up Bury fans because of their dads long association with the Shakers.... if you want to work out Gary’s loyalties.

Re: Class of 92 - Salford
No that was the reason for them supporting Bury. As I say I was around Salford at the time, they were regularly referred to as Bury fans both in interviews and commentaries, and by United fans crowing about them. Same way they go on about Scholes and Oldham.NL Claret wrote:Not sure that's correct. They had a season or so as burnley fans too based on where their dad worked.

Although he likes to be the go to guy on all Man United related issues. Keeping himself in the limelight and trying to tell all and sundry about the issues on the pitch. Happy to cash in on his past with the club.elwaclaret wrote:The Neville’s grew up Bury fans because of their dads long association with the Shakers.... if you want to work out Gary’s loyalties.
I agree with you just that the above backs up what you have said and why United fans are suddenly turning against him
Re: Class of 92 - Salford
If you say so. I played cricket and football with them as kids. Neville used to have a volvo sponsored by walker farrimond when he was at Burnley.elwaclaret wrote:No that was the reason for them supporting Bury. No.
"I played for United all my life –not just a one-club man but at the greatest club on the planet. Something grabs you when you are a child and gives you a passion. Mine was always United."
Not quite true this line from his book , he should have included Bury FC Juniors and ICE Juniors as former clubs.

I don’t think he did a year before he was shown the door.NL Claret wrote:Not sure that's correct. They had a season or so as burnley fans too based on where their dad worked.
I think Jill Neville is still secretary at Bury although probably not being paid. Isn’t the main stand now the Neville Neville Stand.

I’ll go against the grain and say that I actually like Neville as a pundit - pretty fair and gives good analysis.

We may be actually agreeing with something here, but I like Neville too.Swizzlestick wrote:I’ll go against the grain and say that I actually like Neville as a pundit - pretty fair and gives good analysis.
Then again, I also think Roy Keane is a good pundit and that Michael Owen is the worst pundit to ever appear on television.

It is the same lay out of the show but it is a 4 episode series, first 2 episodes cover promotion from National League North in 2017/18 season and then final 2 episodes cover their promotion from National League last season with Graham Alexander in charge, also a small clip of Gawthorpe and a Burnley youth game with Gareth Seddon looking for players.FactualFrank wrote:Is this the one that was shown in 2015?

Also - I think Neville is very good and quite savvy from a media point of view but I've also heard that he's not the nicest or easiest bloke to get along with.

Re: Class of 92 - Salford
He was. We turned up at Macclesfield for a game and he was on the team sheet. The club had never announced he'd signed for us on loan. Eight appearances and I'd go as far to say that none of them were memorable. Stan had already had him play for him at Bury.Foulthrow wrote:Was John O'Kane at Burnley once?

Yes I’m aware of Neville Neville’s connection with Burnley, but both boys were long time Shakers by the time they went to Man U. It also makes sense as Neville Snr was a Bury stalwart of George Bray proportions... though nothing like Brays record.NL Claret wrote:If you say so. I played cricket and football with them as kids. "RIGHT FROM THE start, I loved United and I loved an argument. So it was always going to be a volatile mix when I went to a school full of Liverpool fans. I grew up in Bury, just up the road from Manchester. But looking at all the Liverpool FC football shirts, my school might as well have been yards from Anfield. This was the eighties. Liverpool were the glamorous, successful team of the moment so pretty much all the kids at school supported them, like kids do. There we were, less than ten miles from Old Trafford, but it could have been the heart of Merseyside. I wasn’t the only United fan in the playground, but it felt that way to me."elwaclaret wrote:Yes I’m aware of Neville Neville’s connection with Burnley, but both boys were long time Shakers by the time they went to Man U. "In those days Liverpool were my tormentors. At school I’d have their success shoved down my throat day after day. That’s how the feuding started. They were winning everything at the time, but the more crowing I heard about Liverpool’s triumphs, the more I’d defend my club. I’d stubbornly argue for United all day long. Anyone who thinks I’ve been a one-eyed defender of United in recent years should have heard me in the playground at Chantlers Primary. United were the most magical thing in my life. As a kid, I lived for watching games. Going to Old Trafford was the highlight of my week. The club was in the blood, thanks to my dad. He’s been a devoted Red all his life. He went to the 1958 FA Cup final as a nine-year-old, when United lost bravely to Bolton Wanderers just a few months after the tragedy of the Munich air crash. He saw the glory years under Sir Matt Busby,"

Re: Class of 92 - Salford
Gary Neville is a great pundit. However, just watching this shows you why he has been unsuccessful so far as a manager. He is way too emotional when getting involved in the game which is fine as a fan or even part owner, less so as a manager. Would have been interesting to see a documentary of his time at Valencia with the necessary subtitles for what the players thought of him. You only have to see how relatively calm Grezza is during the documentary as a comparison.
