I’m told Sean Gotto is the goalkeeper to the left of the three. To be honest I would never have got that.

Looking at that side - do they just look older ? I’ve played against the ex Claret veterans team a couple of times and most of them looked younger than that team ! Got to be an average age of well into 30s surely !
No they just looked older... Tony Morley, Billy Rod and Flynn for example, where all only coming to the end of their careers when they returned in the late 80’s /90’s.

Must be the briefest managerial career of all time. Hard to believe Martin will now be 70 years old, seems like only yesterday he was here at Burnley but he was 36 at the time.

He said he was bitterly disappointed by his decision to quit but, however hard he tried, he was unable to make the transition into management. Hope all is well with him now.

Very strange man. He saw me one day walking down the road outside the ground and spent around 45 minutes talking to me. A week later, same scenario and he blanked me. The bloke was in a mess and we should never have given him the job in the first place.

Great pic of Ralphy, all about blood, sweat and tears and how he always gave his last ounce of effort in every game.

Shot of the ground looks to be dated in the early 80's with the sloping back of the Bee Hole End.

Early 80s - the sloping back of the Bee Hole End disappeared in the 1960s and the pic is definitely pre 1968 because the old cricket field end is there

Can’t be 1970. Work started on the new cricket field stand late 1967 and its still there on that pic.

Aye, on closer inspection CT has it because the new CFS opened in August 1969.

In fact the last game for the CF terracing was December 1967.

Go even further than that - the gym isn’t there at the back of the Longside. When was that built? I’m sure it was around 1961.

I mean the Beehole was extended in 1970, not when the photo was taken.

Bee Hole extension was slightly earlier than that.

Lot of clues there - it's the old cricket ground without the car park on one side and no sign of the new pavilion but the date of the pic has to be after the floodlights were erected (they are there) but before the gym was built, so I'd put the pic around 1959-1961.

Looks like lots of excavation work looking at the back of the longside and right round to the back of the Beehole end so looks like work as just been done on one of the terraces
And if you look at the top of the Beehole end it appears they are putting the rest of the shuttering in for the concrete steps

I think they were just the steps you used to get onto the terracing once you'd gone through the turnstiles on Bee Hole Lane.

Agreed a fantastic victory that day with great goals scored as well but tarnished by Bill Shankly saying afterwards that the game should never have been played because the state of the pitch although he said nothing before the game, couldnt take a defeat although outplayed all the game . Seems things don't change with all Klopps whinging in the past couple of seasons

Good pic of Budgie Burridge in a turtle-neck shirt in front of the old Spion Kop at Blackpool :) stood on that terrace a good few times in the past.
And yes good to see Admiral Redbeard back on board, although if you are High I expect to see some rampling posts, with smiley faces :)

I remember as a kid they used to open the gates at the bottom so you could on the pitch. Especially remember 82 in the pouring rain.
