Not sure whether that Arsenal v Burnley pic is 73/74 or 74/75.Royboyclaret wrote:Think it was 1-1 with a Brady own goal giving us a point.
Remember the first away game of that '73/'74 season at Sheff Utd when we ran out in that kit. It was quite a shock to the system as we'd only been used to a white alternative shirt in previous seasons.
On the subject of kits I see we're wearing the new green third kit at Arsenal today. One of the first times we played Woolwich Arsenal away in the 1900/01 season we also wore green shirts. Just a mere 119 years ago !!
We sort of wore that kit at Sheffield United but only the shirt. We had white shorts and claret socks that day.

Take a look at the youtube of Noble scoring in post #191. He's wearing No.7 and short sleeves.
In the pic he's wearing long sleeves and he wore No.2 at Arsenal that season.

The youtube clip shows Noble scoring and wearing No.7, which he did at Arsenal in '74/'75.ClaretTony wrote:Wasn’t referring to the YouTube but the pic. No way as I can see of determining which of the two games.

Can't be much clearer than that.

Any body got a pic of Burnley v New Brighton fav 1957. We played in navy shirts which I think is the only time ever. I remember when Burnley took to the field nobody cheered as they thought it was New Brighton. Still a mystery why we played in Navy

Re: Burnley F C in pictures
Was before my time but back then both teams would have to change if they couldn't agree when there was a clash. My first memory of that was in 1962 when we wore white and Everton wore yellow in the FA Cup and then in 1974 against Wrexham at home we wore the blue kit that Noble is wearing against Arsenal further up the thread.FCBurnley wrote:Any body got a pic of Burnley v New Brighton fav 1957. For anyone who has the "Burnley....A Complete Record" book, on page 28 there's a pic of Brian Pilkington scoring the 8th goal in that 9-0 romp against non-league New Brighton. I remember that game as the one where Doug Winton missed a penalty at the BeeHole end to make it 10.FCBurnley wrote:Any body got a pic of Burnley v New Brighton fav 1957. It's a black and white photo but we are clearly wearing a dark top with a white collar.

Clearly the team photo was our early 1968/69 squad. Frank Casper played 51 of our 52 League and Cup games that season and yet was nowhere to be seen on the photo. Now we know why, cheers W_C_Z.

Ian Towers moved to Bury just prior to the 1968/69 season. Makes you wonder if both team photos were taken at the same time/match.

Willie scored against Chelsea again in the home game later in the season. This time though he was slightly upstaged by his strike partner Andy Lochhead who scored 5 times!

Andy Lochhead the only player in our history to score five goals in a match twice for us, not to mention also scoring four goals twice along with many hat-tricks. We all rave about Willie Irvine, and rightly so, but Andy was a prolific goalscorer for us.ClaretTony wrote:That was the one when Lochhead scored five
And yet we had one player who scored six goals in a match.
