And yet we had one player who scored six goals in a match.

Louis Page was the six shooter ( away at Birmingham 1-6) and Jimmy Robson scored a five v Forest ( 8-0).

Just going back to Ian Towers, Tony, I recall you wrote a lovely piece about him when he passed away.
Was Ian our first ever substitute?

Just saw a great pic of the crowd on The Bee Hole End in FAC 1914 ( won 3-0). It was on Burnley now and then. I have asked the poster if they could add it to this thread. Hope she can.

Cheers..........I know after leaving Oldham he then landed at Bury in the summer of 1968.
Quite probable his very first game for them was against Burnley in that pre-season game at Gigg Lane?

Three more pearlers there, W_C_Z.
Top one shows a rare right-footed strike from Geoff Nulty in the home 1-1 draw against Man Utd in Nov.69. Geoff played as emergency centre-forward for a just a few games when Casper was injured. The Brunshaw Road stand is closed by that time and stayed that way for another four seasons.
Middle one must be 1979/80 I think as we dispensed with the "V" neck the previous season:-
Back Row........Rodaway, Brennan, Smith, Scott.
Middle Row......James, Robinson, Kindon, Stevenson, Higgins, Ingham.
Front Row.......Jakub, Thomson, Noble, Fletcher & Hall.
Bottom pic....?

Think Higgins looks more like Tony Arins, Royboy but I’ll bow to your second look.

It is Arins and it is 1979/80, the first season I ever saw a home kit with anything but white shorts.

Third pic in post #264: The Halifax player clinging to the goal post is a young Phil Brown. The player on the opposite post is Paul Fleming, who infamously launched Neil Grewcock into the advertising hoardings in the Sherpa Van Northern Semi-Final at the Turf in 1988. The mere sight of Les Lawrence and Peter Devine in the same photograph gives me the shudders.

That first picture has to be one of our dinners given you've got your username badge on. Our guests always wore them too and I recall Alison Overson & Carole Dobson there with Mrs Big Vince and Mrs Dobbo on their badges.
And I have to mention just how fantastic Jimmy Mac was at the two dinners he attended.
