Sat with him at Portsmouth a few years ago and got on great (just didn't talk politics) then at PNE and a friendly at Bradford... He laughed like hell when I accused him of Stalkingtim_noone wrote:Got to say I've seen alistair cambell a couple of times and seems a nice chap... Irrespective of his Party or politics. Walter Joyce and Ian Towers were the unlucky two.
They both got ice-creams but no place at Wembley.

Towers was the official 12th man but this was in the days before substitutes. Introduced into the league in 1965/66 but I think it was a year later before we had subs in the FA Cup.Royboyclaret wrote:Walter Joyce and Ian Towers were the unlucky two.

Re: Burnley F C in pictures
That away kit was introduced after promotion. Strangely, we wore that shirt with white shorts and clarets socks at Sheffield United on the opening day of the season but then introduced the sky blue shorts and socks. The shirt was the same colours as we wore in the 1947 FA Cup Final shirt. We certainly had that away kit for two seasons but I think we moved into yellow for the first ever time in 1975/76.
Remains my favourite all time away kit and the bloke shown wearing it wasn't bad either.

Re: Burnley F C in pictures
The blue kit was worn alongside the white away kit from 1973 to 1976 the Yellow one was first worn at Ewood for the ASC draw in August 1976 ..some footage somewhere of the game at Old Trafford in 75-76 wearing Blue shirts Claret shorts and the home White socks with Claret tops ... we wore all sorts in those days but I liked the Blue too.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri Jan 17, 2020 11:36 amThat away kit was introduced after promotion. Dennis Howell, Minister for Sport and former top referee, in our dressing room.
Anybody know the player above Harry Potts? He’s the only one I can’t identify.

Think it has to be Garry France, the game is clearly in the early part of the '66/'67 season and France was substitute in two of those games.Tricky Trevor wrote: ↑Thu Feb 06, 2020 4:52 pmDennis Howell, Minister for Sport and former top referee, in our dressing room.

Going to be West Ham at home, I think, early Dec'66, won 4-2. All the players on there except Willie Irvine.
Blacklaw, Angus, Elder, O'Neil, Miller, Todd, Morgan, Lochhead, Irvine, Harris & Latcham. Sub, Garry France.

Just had a look in Clarets Chronicles. Busby played 4 matches all in March ‘80. The only player that season I don’t remember was Steve McAdam who played LB for the last 5 matches.Royboyclaret wrote: ↑Fri Mar 27, 2020 11:07 pmMartyn Busby it is, which just leaves the player between Billy Hamilton and Ian Brennan..........Anyone??
I’ve done more research and found this sad story, with picture.

RIP Steve. Still not sure it’s him but could be.
Re: Burnley F C in pictures
Can only find a few pictures of Clayton some 25-30 years earlier when he was a keeper with Man United (making two appearances) but it looks like the same person so I think you have it.claretfern wrote: ↑Fri Mar 27, 2020 11:28 pmI think the guy is Gordon Clayton. Wasn't he Chief Scout?
