Sheffield United's defenders

Post by Spijed » Sun Aug 11, 2019 10:57 pm

When analysing how they played against Bournemouth on MoTD it showed that their centre halves seemed play quite high up the pitch, often deep in the opposition half.

Against the better teams (And probably most in the Prem) it will be interesting to see how that works out. Can't see it being too successful, but who knows?

Fair play to them if they stick to it, I do fear what might happen against the likes of City and Liverpool and teams with real pace up front.
I can see us struggling against them if they do keep on with the overlapping centre halves, no pace to hit them with.

Bournemouth are one of the quickest teams especially in transition - both goals came from set pieces........

It's not just pace of players but pace and accuracy of passing. I think we have the latter.

Our passing has improved greatly season-on-season.

I'm assuming if the CH gets forward a midfield player slots into defence to cover though? The theory being more a fluid system rather than just leaving massive gaps?

Bit risky against the majority of Prem strikers if the player covering them isn't a natural defender
