No surprise with 2 of those but the 3rd is
But only because he didn’t have that much to do in the game

The Daily Mirror cannot be right.
Garth Crooks must be, he hasn't managed to name a single Burnley player.

For those who don't want to wait half an hour for the Mirror's dreadful website to fully load, our three are Pope, Pieters and Barnes.

Surprised that Nick Pope was in the team of the weekend
I can't remember him making any mistakes and yes he made one excellent save and another good save but generally he didn't have much to do

Or the times he covered Wan Bissaka who had gone forward, you might have been staring at the screen but you didn't watch what was happening for sure

so because you've got no argument to the facts you accuse someone of being a plastic Man Utd fan, I'd say good effort but it wasn'ttheroyaldyche wrote:Not another plastic united fan

I watched the game. He was clumsy and gave the ball away a lot.Vegas Claret wrote:so because you've got no argument to the facts you accuse someone of being a plastic Man Utd fan, I'd say good effort but it wasn't
Not deserving of the team of the week

I would agree he shouldn't be in team of the week but to say he was toss is going far too far the other way IMHOtheroyaldyche wrote:I watched the game. He was clumsy and gave the ball away a lot.

Re: Daily Mirror team of the week
Guardian was only a couple of weeks away from the same three: Barnes, Pieters and Tom Heaton - yes, they had, correctly, listed Tom as Aston Villa.
Their main pic had Tom diving full stretch in the fore-ground, with defenders in claret and blue in front of him - but, the ball was beyond him and heading for the "back of the net."
How often does a keeper that's conceded 3 get in team of the week?
Guardian also reported that Nick Pope's dad had reminded him that he'd not played in the Premier League for 454 days. I think Nick's referenced before that his dad aims to keep him grounded (apart from when he's jumping for crosses, of course).

Re: Daily Mirror team of the week
Tony Cascarino in The Times only has Ashley Barnes in his team of the week - leading the line in a 4-2-3-1 formation with Sterling, Rashford and Aubameyang behind him. Now that is some attacking force!

Re: Daily Mirror team of the week
Alan Shearer has Barnes and Pieters in the PL Team of the Week too. I wonder what all these neutrals are seeing that you don't? Instead of looking for negative things to say about players why not try and look for positives - 2 assists (even if 1 was more of a fluke than an intentional pass), kept a quite nippy winger and wing-back reasonably quiet and helped out in the centre of defence a couple of times. That fist pumping when we scored and again at the end was good to see as well!theroyaldyche wrote:I watched the game. He was clumsy and gave the ball away a lot.
