Shame for the lad at only 33 hanging up his pro boots...

Always liked Kights and good luck in all he does :)

He scored some key goals and made some great assist in our first promotion under Dyche. He’ll always be remembered fondly by this Claret.
Shame it didn’t work out for him when he went home to Southend, it at least he did score a winner against R*vers, on his debut.

Had bad injuries at Wolves which I assume have shortened his career. Always thought he did well for us.

An important player for us in 2013/14 on loan. We started the season with Wallace and Stanislas out wide, but as soon as Kightly and Arfield replaced them we suddenly looked so balanced and we never looked back.

Hope he finds an enjoyable second career.

Fantastic selfless player for us. Wasnt the most talented player we have had but put his all in. Even with us you could tell earlier injuries had impacted his game.

Memory serves me right he scored the first from a free kick in the following game against Wigan past Shaka Hislop which won us promotion (?)

Always liked him, hard working player with a fair amount of quality. One of the first Dyche type players. Good luck to him for his next career.

Memory doesn’t serve you right, he scored the second in a 2-0 win.

Sad he’s had to retire relatively young, I always look fondly on his time at the Turf.

Often unfairly a target on here for the boo boys.
Wasn’t always first choice but always gave his all even when it wasn’t going all his way.

Sad news, looked for him in the Southend game, and wondered if he’d left them. Good luck whatever he chooses next.

Shame for him, but he's had a good career. Scored some important goals for us and was a steady player. Wouldn't be surprised to see him end up at Billericay...

Great squad player for us. This is one of my favourite all time images for Burnley. Kights celebrating in front of the Longside after we went 2-0 up v Wigan to clinch promotion.

Always been a big fan of Kightly and thought he was underused during our first Premier League season under Dyche. I seem to remember him having a barnstormer of a first half at Old Trafford but apart from that wasn't given many chances.

He was never the same player after that injury at Wolves. I dare say that if he hadn't had that injury he probably would never have played for us as I believe that his career would have taken a completely different direction.

He did a good job for us and like others have mentioned, that goal at Blackpool always comes to mind when he is mentioned.

He certainly was.
We played so well that night and scored a lovely goal.
3-1 result massively flattered United - could easily have been 3-1 to us.
Was that the game that Rooney was awful and ended up playing so deep there was times in the second half he was picking the ball up from their centre backs in his own half ?
Can’t remember who played full back for them but Kightly murdered him that night.

Kights was a great player for us & scored some key goals.

When he arrived it heralded a new era. Under Dyche we wouldn't be signing players to muddle along at our old level - we were going to look to sign players who could improve us and take us forward.

It was a signing that lifted our ability as well as our sights.
