Salford v Leeds
Who do we want to win the mighty roses battle?
How many Leeds supporters will be arrested for public order offences?
Salford all the way for me. I suspect it will be a lively night for Greater Manchester police....

Re: Salford v Leeds
Got to be Salford, those deluded Leeds fans need bringing back to reality, they picked up 4 points from their opening 2 league games, and already they're bragging about PL football next season.
And in any war of the roses,Lancashire has to reign supreme.
Edit-forgot about the Grezza connection as well even more reason to want a home win,in addition i'm guessing not many have visited Salford's stadium,so for the travelling fans that would be another one to tick off the list,if the Clarets were fortunate enough to draw them in the next round.

Re: Salford v Leeds
Isn't Salford in Greater Manchester?
Re: Salford v Leeds
I'm from Salford and never felt like I was from Lancashire even though my Dad used to tell me Manchester was part of Lancashire, or used to be. I suppose its about as war of the roses as Man Utd v Leeds.
But it doesn't matter, its Leeds so I want Salford to win.

Had a cheeky tenner on Salford or the draw. Hopefully they will quiet the 24,000 Leeds fans in attendance

To be honest I'm sick and tired of the exposure Leeds get. It's the third time this season. A good reason for thinking about cancelling my Sky subscription. Come on Sky there's 23 other teams in the Championship.

I passed Elland Road on my way home from work. Judging by the queue of geriatrics waiting for buses I doubt there’ll be much trouble.Hibsclaret wrote:Who do we want to win the mighty roses battle?

I'd prefer Leeds to win - so their cup run might impact their league form/concentration.
And we might get drawn against them.

Do Burnley come in the next round? Wouldn't mind drawing DL and knocking them out.

Wow, guess what, Leeds on TV again, surely not. Bloody hope they go down the Bolton/Bury route very soon, sick of the perennially underachieving Yorkshire bastards.

Dunno, the volume of rumours about Savile and yet they still had people queuing up to see him lying in state like Yorkshire royalty, i think it bears the odd jibe.TVC15 wrote:Salford fans embarrassing themselves singing about jimmy Saville and galatasaray

Plus, Stanley need the dosh more than either Salford or the Yarky Gits.

A mate of mine, to our amusement, told us on a night out in Leeds the other week, that he went to see Saville’s cortège go through the City (I think Saville may have been held in The Queens Hotel for a time, for people to pay their respects).
Whether or not there were rumours before, he was certainly treated like royalty in the days and weeks after his death.
The allegations were later, if I remember correctly.

Leeds manager interview- looked ground throughout.
Translater relayed questions. Translated answers back into 'English'.
I am none the wiser!

Re: Salford v Leeds
Yes he had a sort of state funeral. It unravelled about a week later starting with someone smashing his headstone on the hill above Scarborough if I recall correctly.
Re: Salford v Leeds
Like a David Peace novel.
Re: Salford v Leeds
Just Google ‘Jimmy Savile funeral’ and read the BBC stories from 2011. It beggars belief doesn’t it.

Nah, being involved in comedy especially, trust me, people knew. Trouble was, he was extremely litigious and well connected so it was difficult to act on it until he died.DCWat wrote:A mate of mine, to our amusement, told us on a night out in Leeds the other week, that he went to see Saville’s cortège go through the City (I think Saville may have been held in The Queens Hotel for a time, for people to pay their respects).

The day Saville died, a good friend of mine, who’d lived in Leeds for over ten years, and worked for the local authority, texted me with the words, “A can of worms is about to be opened.”LS7 wrote:Just Google ‘Jimmy Savile funeral’ and read the BBC stories from 2011. It beggars belief doesn’t it.

Re: Salford v Leeds
Are Salford actually behind Leeds in the exposure they are getting from Sky? Already been on twice, yet another Sky exclusive documentary.ashtonlongsider wrote:To be honest I'm sick and tired of the exposure Leeds get. It's the third time this season. There were rumours of rumours and he was known as an oddball and a dirty b’stsrd from the 60’s but no one ever really had any real proof on him . A quite bizzare and extraordinary life for sure .The Louis Theroux docu was excellent . Pity he didn’t live to stand trial .ZizkovClaret wrote:Nah, being involved in comedy especially, trust me, people knew.
