A fine is irrelevant to City

That's the problem unfortunately, especially one of that magnitude. They should take the players away
and give them back to the original owners who can keep the transfer fee.

Totally. It's the equivalent of not asking for the 1p change you're due at the till in terms of financial impact

Yes the fine means next to nothing to City, it's one week's pay for Kevin de Bruyne.

It's a far less punishment than Chelsea received. It looks as if the sentence has been lessened because they've admitted some wrongdoing but it's far less an imposition than Chelsea got. Hopefully we'll get some reasoning (or is that too much to expect?).

Far too much to expect, I fear.
City can do what they like.

And the sad thing is that when 99% of all those players are released clubs like Man City won't give a damn with regards to what happens to them thereafter.

I'm sure the Chelsea hierarchy will bring the City case up in their arguments, they are still appealing their transfer ban,and they've got a valid point, how is it one rule for the rest, yet City don't even get a slap on the wrist.

And this isn't City's 1st fine,how many chances do they get :?

In May 2017, City were banned from signing academy players for two years and fined £300,000 after breaching Premier League transfer rules.

The club are currently being investigated by Uefa for alleged financial fair play violations.

And what's the odds the FFP investigation comes to nought, pretty high i'd wager.

First offence = big fine (kind of your warning)
Second offence = 3 point deduction
Third offence = 5 point deduction
Fourth offence = 10 point deduction

That’s what would hurt them. 3 points would have cost them the title last year.

That should form part of the rules around FFP too. So if they’ve had a fine for this, they automatically go to 3 points for an FFP breach.

Totally agree about points deductions, equally being banned from European competitions would send a strong message.

I'm completely lost on the FFP regulations TBH,clubs continually flout the rules and escape without any obvious punishment.

Even looking at Birmingham last season they got the 12-point deduction, but it didn't really hurt them, they didn't get relegated and they wouldn't have made the play-offs in any event.

There are at least four more Premier League clubs under investigation for this offence - their were six announced two have now had charges brought and punishments handed out, none were named when news of the investigations broke.

The guidelines on fines either desperately need updating fast as they're way behind the cash clubs in the PL are raking in OR, far better, the transfer ban is leveled and actually enforced as that's what will hit big clubs hardest.

I love this rule regarding the signing of youngsters and what is allowed....

“The player's parents move to the country in which the new club is located for non-footballing reasons.”

There must be hundreds of parents of young African players who were already considering moving to Europe for reasons completely unrelated to their child being a promising player!

It's a far lesser offence than Chelsea. Chelsea, if I remember rightly, signed a couple of dozen 15 and 16 year olds completely against the regulations. By the look of this, Man City are being done for having 17 year olds play trial matches with a view to signing them on their 18th birthday.
