How do the 1st Team travel to away matches, ie Arsenal tomorrow 1230 kick-off?
Fly/team bus on the day or day before?
Just curious.
Thanks.

Re: Ist Team Travel
I do hope they choose the cheapest option.
Certainly not the luxury of staying over the night before as a group. If they do get the train or a coach and then stay over hope they pay for themselves.

Re: Ist Team Travel
I thought it would be a light workout Friday morning, lunch then on the coach early afternoon.
Re: Ist Team Travel
I wanted to keep this secret but what the hell. Since my children left home and as I have now got two spare bedrooms I have started boarding a couple of the first team players when they are in the South East for a game. I understand that BFC have a network of home boarders who are able to provide a homely and more importantly cheap option favoured by the club.

Re: Ist Team Travel
Almost always get the coach. Its a top quality coach. Some will make their own way home depending on where it is and when we next play.
Think we fly to Bournemouth and Southampton sometimes.

Re: Ist Team Travel
Would have thought for an early kick off like tomorrow they'd travel down today and have an overnight stay.

Re: Ist Team Travel
I thought it was common knowledge that they fly into Heathrow by private jet then book in at Claridge's for the night before going on the raz all round London until the early hours!

They booked the entire first class section out on the Virgiñ train last December after the Spurs game. Euston to Manchester.
Whatever they do it will be based on return travel to the Manchester area where the players live.

Re: Ist Team Travel
For the London games they normally meet up at the Knutsford services on the M6,usually around 7hrs before ko.
Ashley Barnes drives a 7 seater people carrier, half the team pile on that and the rest of the lads follow down in their cars.
If Dyche changes the team you know one of the lads has taken a wrong turn, just hope it isn't Ashley Barnes are we're fuked

Re: Ist Team Travel
For a couple of match tickets, I'm always ready to offer an overnight to 2 or 3 of the team. I also let them park their car on my drive - so long as they leave it with a full tank and the keys.Corky wrote:I wanted to keep this secret but what the hell. Re: Ist Team Travel
The team coach was heading north on the A1M past Hitchin around 7.30 this evening. Black motor with Reays on the side and an LED display high on the front screen. A bit late to be heading back unless they were out in London after the match...

Re: Ist Team Travel
As an example, for the Bournemouth game last season, the team coach drove down from the North West empty and the players flew down and it was there ready to pick them up from Bournemouth airport and take them to the ground / pick them up from the hotel.
That same team coach was then taking them back to the airport, and heading back north empty after the match. That’s what Southampton also did last weekend as a comparison.
Whether for London games we choose a train rather than air travel I don’t know, but I’d expect we will fly to Bournemouth, Southampton and Norwich this season as a minimum and use the above method to transport staff from the airport to the ground.
There are some exceptions so some players at Bournemouth with Southern connections went off with family after the match presumably spending their day off on Sunday with family and then heading north on Sunday evening.
It’s par for the course these days. Anyone who’s been watching The Class of ‘92 will have seen the chat between Neville and the board about the need to pay for overnights as they go up to the National League (never mind League 2) so it must cost clubs a pretty penny.
