Re: Andy Lonergan
Those two games against PNE that Season were the highlight of that year. That’s truly when ours and PNE’s paths diverged.

Maybe it is wise to have 3 decent keepers on your books after all.

Good lord just look at our defending back then.
It's a different universe to what we've come to expect as standard under Dyche.

Hopefully Adrian's injury is serious enough to keep him out for a few weeks.

I wonder how many of that starting 11 would make our side now (obv if they were the same age then) - not convinced any would.Bosscat wrote:https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/andy ... 9rnd8b8sv2

Wow how old is Lonergan now he's been around forever My mind may be playing tricks on me but pretty sure I can remember him being at PNE when they were our big rivals in the Ternent years?

Re: Andy Lonergan
Definitely our best derby games over the years. Maybe Blackburn means too much, but we never seem to have the end-to-end goal fests that the games with PNE provided. Beating Bolton, post-Coyle, was fun but other than the violent late 80s games they don't seem to have much 'edge' to them now.MiltonKeynesClaret93 wrote:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BdI6Phi5RYE

Having said that, I'll be happy for all our 'superior' neighbours to stay well below us for a while yet.

Dean Marney would probably start instead of Jack Cork then.

Does anyone else remember Laws goofing around on the BBC set after the match? I am sure he walked right in front of the camera filming the hosts before they introduced him

Preston easily my favourite rivals. Love games with them. And hate them more than Blackburn as a result of the games down the years!

I remember how excited I was that we signed Treacy after seeing him play in this game. Sadly, he wasn't even half the player we saw that day, barring a couple of good moments.

Re: Andy Lonergan
I definitely agree re Lonergan having been around absolutely forever. Crumbs, he must be due his old age pension. Was he in goal for PNE when we scored a last minute winner to snatch a 3-2 at Deepdale back in about 1998??? (Maybe I'm mistaken)

I think Lonergan is the same age Robinson was the season he was our #2 in the Prem and played three games when Heaton was out
Re: Andy Lonergan
He's 35, two years younger than Robinson was that season.Devils_Advocate wrote:I think Lonergan is the same age Robinson was the season he was our #2 in the Prem and played three games when Heaton was out
Of course Robinson had a much better pedigree than Lonergan has.

Used to love away days at their place. That huge stand behind the goal bouncing. Not always had the best results but worth it for King Arthur

Think its only 1 year as Robinson was 36 in 2016.Tall Paul wrote:He's 35, two years younger than Robinson was that season.
Of course Robinson had a much better pedigree than Lonergan has.
In terms of recent pedigree as thats prob more relevant theres not much in it. Robinson played 21, 21, 7 & 0 games at Championship level whilst Lonergan played 29, 11, 7 & 0 games at Championship level in the 4 years prior
Before that Robinson reached a much much higher level but Id say the pair are of similar age and standard in respect to the period of them being called on to play in the Prem again
