Corn Flakes

Post by pushpinpussy » Fri Aug 16, 2019 5:33 pm

Was buying some today in Tesco when the man on the till explained that cornflakes were invented because Dr Kellogg believed eating plain food stopped people masturbating. You learn something everyday.

Very good film about Kellogg, played by Anthony Hopkins. He ran a clinic, and yes vankers were something he thought led to madness. He believed corn flakes would be a wonder treatment for all manner of inflictions... also one of the first to advocate colonic irrigation as far as memory serves.

I was advised that muesli is not a particularly healthy breakfast because of the amount of sugar even in the reduced sugar offerings. I was advised that corn flakes were even worse. I'll stick with my porridge.

Porridge for me too, often with some fresh blackberries and a little honey on top. Yummy.

Never have breakfast and haven't for as long as I can remember. First time I eat something during the day is usually a banana at break time.

From what I remember of them though though, corn flakes are just a soggy bowl of sugar.

Oh I've had plenty of fry ups, but if I'm having one I reserve it for match days only, and it's usually around 11 by the time I'm tucking into one.

Will have to be earlier one tomorrow though or I'll miss the game :D

In Germany Pumpernickel is my fave bread at Breaky time ...

Only problem is, it can make you rather windy ...

Thats how it gets its name ...

Its not called Devils Fart for nothing ... from Pumpern (to break wind) and Nick (a name for the devil) ...

Oats and semi skimmed milk for me - I make a big batch and plaster the internal walls with what’s left.

I can confirm that eating cornflakes does indeed curtail the inclination to bash the bishop; that coupled with an over observant waiter in the Holiday Inn whilst I was reading the Sunday Sport at breakfast.

Porridge is an amazing food. I have got into thr habit of having it for breakfast every day. One of the best foods for your heart. Somehow unclogs your arteries to and from your heart and massively lessens your chances of having blood clots. One of the real super foods. Bit bland on its own mind

I can remember have porridge as a kid, like you say a bit bland, the ten teaspoons of sugar used to take away the blandness.
