Video Assistant Referee v Arsenal

Post by Bin Ont Turf » Fri Aug 16, 2019 9:09 pm

Picture the scene.....

Burnley are 2-1 up in the 90th minute. Arsenal score but it is ruled out by the video assistant referee because Aggyminge's index finger is offside.

Burnley win 2-1.

Christ, this ale is good.

His finger can't be offside so that would be a cruel (not) injustice to Arsenal.

Agubangs finger might not be offside but Ozils eyes might be.

Knowing our luck, seconds before Arsenal score the winner in the 98th minute from someone in an offside position handling the ball whilst diving, there will be an equipment failure and VAR can't be used!

Referees are still making the decisions whether they are at the ground or in some room nice and warm with a cup of tea in some secret location, therefore there is still bias. Arsenal could and may well score a handball goal but I doubt it would be pulled up, but at the other end if the ball were to accidentally brush Barnes finger before being put into the net though that would be different.
We never ever get any thing or any luck against this lot.

This. Amazes me how people think VAR is going to make much of a difference to bias towards the bigger clubs. If that Adams challenge on Mee last week had been Barnes on Chambers at the Emirates it'd have been given as a red card, for example. We're more likely to be on the wrong end of a VAR disallowed goal/red card/penalty than benefit from one IMO.
